Please Note: These cartridges have been recently re-designed to work with a 50ml square-back cartridge dispenser, even though they are actually 41.5ml (1.4 oz) in volume. This 3M cartridge will fit into dispensers such as the MedMix DMA50 dispenser. It is strongly advised that you use a 50ml Dispenser for this cartridge.
If you do not have one one of these dispensers, please check out some of the other product options to the right. We do sell this as a kit with an included Dispenser.

3M EC2216 B/A is a flexible, two-part epoxy adhesive that cures at room temperature. It is renowned for its exceptional performance in extreme conditions, particularly its ability to maintain high peel and shear strength over a wide temperature range, including cryogenic temperatures. Its flexibility makes it ideal for bonding dissimilar surfaces and applications requiring high shock, vibration, and impact resistance.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Bonding panels, brackets, and components in aircraft and aerospace manufacturing.
- Applications requiring performance at cryogenic temperatures, such as in scientific instruments or liquefied gas systems.
- Bonding dissimilar materials with different coefficients of thermal expansion (e.g., metal to plastic).
- Potting and encapsulating electronic components that are sensitive to shock and thermal cycling.
- General industrial bonding where flexibility and high environmental resistance are critical.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Aerospace and Aviation
- Defense and Military
- Specialty Vehicle and Transportation
- Electronics and Scientific Instrumentation
- General Industrial and Metalworking
Special and Unique Features
- Outstanding performance at low temperatures, retaining flexibility and strength down to -423 F (-253 C).
- High peel strength and flexibility provide excellent shock, vibration, and impact resistance.
- The long work life (90 minutes) allows ample time for positioning and adjusting large or complex parts.
- The base and accelerator are color-contrasting (off-white and gray) to provide a visual indicator of a proper mix.
- Low viscosity ensures easy mixing and application.

Known backups / known substitutes for this product
- Loctite EA 9309.3NA AERO (Hysol EA 9309)
- Huntsman Araldite 2011
Comparison Note
- 3M EC-2216 is distinguished by its extreme low-temperature performance and flexibility, making it a go-to choice for cryogenic applications and bonding dissimilar materials. Loctite EA 9309 and Araldite 2011 are also high-performance, toughened adhesives used in aerospace and industrial applications. However, EC-2216's specific formulation gives it a unique advantage in applications demanding flexibility and performance in severe cold, while other epoxies might offer higher strength at room temperature but become brittle in the cold.
