Piston Venting tool for non-vented pistons.
Nordson Part Number: 7660945
Good for all traditional non-vented pistons, and all manufacturers. Including Nordson, Plas-Pak, Ratio-Pak, Sulzer, Ritter, Atlas Professional, etc.
Helps release trapped-in air when inserting traditional non-vented pistons, O-Ring Pistons, and other pistons that do not auto-releas the air.
The thin plastic strip tool simply is placed inside the barrel before pistons go in, then the pistons get inserted over the vent strip tool, and then the vent tool gets pulled out once the pistons are inserted.
Product Name
Piston Vent Strip
Brief Description
The Piston Vent Strip is a specialized sealing component engineered to enhance the performance of traditional non-vented pistons. It achieves this by providing improved sealing capabilities and/or managing pressure dynamics behind the piston rings, effectively preventing blow-by and optimizing ring seating in various mechanical systems.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Internal combustion engines (automotive, marine, heavy equipment)- Hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders- Compressors and pumps- Aftermarket engine modifications for improved performance- Repair and maintenance of machinery with traditional piston designs
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Automotive Service/Repair- General Manufacturing- Transportation/ Specialty Vehicle- Aerospace/Defense- Marine- Construction/ Building Services- Energy (Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy)- Industrial Supply- Engineering Services- Metal Fabrication
Special and Unique Features
- Specifically designed for traditional non-vented pistons.- Enhances sealing efficiency and pressure management.- Reduces blow-by gases.- Optimizes piston ring seating.- Contributes to maintaining consistent system pressure.- Can extend the lifespan of hydraulic components by preventing fluid leakage and contamination.
Key Properties
- Durable and wear-resistant materials (e.g., PTFE, polyurethane, various elastomers like NBR, FKM, EPDM).- High resistance to pressure and temperature variations.- Low friction properties.- Chemical compatibility with various fluids (e.g., hydraulic oil, brake fluid, engine oil).- Designed for tight sealing with minimal lubrication.
Surface Compatibility
- Typically designed to operate against metal cylinder walls and piston grooves.- Compatible with various metal alloys commonly used in engines and hydraulic cylinders.
Known backups / known substitutes
- Standard piston rings (compression rings, oil control rings).- Integrated vented piston designs.- Other types of hydraulic or pneumatic seals (e.g., U-cup seals, symmetrical seals).- Different piston materials or coatings designed for improved sealing.
Comparison Note
While traditional piston rings provide general sealing, a Piston Vent Strip specifically addresses the challenges of non-vented pistons. It offers a tailored solution for blow-by control and optimized ring dynamics in such applications, particularly where performance enhancement or specific pressure management is required, acting as a specialized upgrade or repair component rather than a generic seal.
