Surface Compatibility
- Metals- Ceramics- Plastics- Elastomers (Rubbers like Buna N)- Wood- Fabric- Leather- Other porous substrates- For difficult or porous surfaces, Permabond C Surface Activator (CSA-NF) or Permabond QFS 16 is recommended- For polypropylene, polyethylene, PTFE, or silicone, priming with Permabond Polyolefin Primer is recommended
Known backups / known substitutes
- Loctite® 380- 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ CA100- Permatex® Black Super Glue- ASI 1500, ASI 2000, ASI FS1000 (from Adhesive Systems Inc.)- Procure PC16- Other Permabond cyanoacrylates like Permabond 108, 795, 170, 947 may be considered depending on specific requirements
Comparison Note
Permabond 798 stands out as a high-viscosity cyanoacrylate adhesive specifically formulated to address the challenges of bonding porous substrates and filling larger gaps, where lower viscosity CAs might wick away or fail to bridge the gap effectively. Its rapid cure speed and surface insensitivity make it highly efficient for high-speed industrial production lines, offering a robust and reliable bond on a diverse range of materials.
