Product Name
LORD Signlok 204 (225mL Cartridge) Non-Sag, Versatile And Temperature Resistant two-component adhesive
Brief Description
LORD Signlok 204 is an economical, two-component MMA (Methyl Methacrylate) structural adhesive engineered to bond prepared or unprepared metals and engineered plastics. It delivers excellent impact and peel strength and is designed to replace welding, brazing, and riveting, improving efficiency and reducing assembly costs.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Sign frames, brackets, and enclosures- Metal/plastic panel assemblies- Transportation equipment- General manufacturing stiffeners and reinforcements- Replacing traditional mechanical fastening methods like welding, brazing, or riveting
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Sign & Display- Metal Fabrication- Plastic Fabrication- General Manufacturing- Transportation/ Specialty Vehicle
Special and Unique Features
- Economical choice within the LORD Signlok product line- Non-sag formula, allowing for neat application on vertical or overhead surfaces- Tight tolerance bonding; formulated without glass beads, making it ideal for close-fit joints where appearance is critical- UL 746C certified for polymeric materials in equipment- Replaces welding, brazing, and riveting, offering a clean and efficient alternative- Provides a reliable handling window for assembly
Key Properties
- Adhesive Type: Two-component MMA (Methyl Methacrylate) structural adhesive- Mix Ratio (A:B): 2:1 by volume- Work Time: 4-6 minutes at 75°F (24°C)- Handling Strength: 22-26 minutes at 75°F (24°C)- Full Cure: 24 hours at 75°F (24°C)- Service Temperature: -40°F to +300°F (-40°C to +149°C)- Appearance (Mixed): Tan paste; cures tan to green- High strength on metals, with lap shear strength up to 3400 psi on aluminum- Excellent impact and peel strength- Environmentally resistant to dilute acids, alkalis, solvents, greases, oils, moisture, salt spray, and indirect UV exposure
Surface Compatibility
- Prepared or unprepared metals, including aluminum, stainless steel, and coated steels- Engineered thermoplastics, including XENOY®, polycarbonate, ABS, and acrylics- Ceramics (when used with LORD Accelerator 17 or 19)
Known backups / known substitutes
- LORD Signlok 400 Series (e.g., 403, 406) for general metal and cross-bonding, often with glass beads- LORD Signlok 810 for low read-through, ACM panel bonding, and thin gauge materials- LORD Maxlok Series (e.g., MX/T3, MX/T6, MX/T18) for superior strength, temperature resistance, and powder coat applications- LORD 206-19 Acrylic Adhesive- LORD 204 with LORD Accelerator 17- General epoxy adhesives- Other MMA adhesives
Comparison Note
LORD Signlok 204 is positioned as an economical option within the Signlok range, providing strong adhesion to a variety of metals and engineered plastics. Its formulation without glass beads makes it suitable for applications requiring tight tolerances and a clean aesthetic. While offering good overall performance, it exhibits less impact resistance, particularly in cold conditions, compared to the LORD Signlok 400 series or Maxlok products. It is also not recommended for applications involving powder coating processes, where Maxlok adhesives are generally preferred.
