SCIGRIP Weld-On 46C is a two-component, translucent, thixotropic acrylic adhesive designed for the seamless, primer-less bonding of metals and plastics. Unlike opaque structural adhesives, Weld-On 46C cures to a translucent finish, eliminating bond line "read-through" and making it the premier choice for sign assembly and display manufacturing where aesthetics are critical. Formulated with a 10:1 mix ratio, it offers a fast working time of 4-6 minutes and achieves fixture strength in just 15-20 minutes. It provides high-strength structural bonds on aluminum, cold rolled steel, acrylics, and polycarbonates without the need for sagging or complex surface preparation.
Because Weld-On 46C cures to a translucent finish, it is the superior choice for visible joints in signs and displays where aesthetics are critical and bond lines must be minimized. For purely structural joints where the adhesive line is completely hidden and color does not matter, consider its sister product, Weld-On 45 (Tan/Opaque).

-
Temperature Range: Serviceable from -40°F to 180°F (-40°C to 82°C)
Unique Capabilities
-
Invisible Structural Bonding: Unlike opaque adhesives that leave dark lines, this translucent formula blends into the substrate, preventing "bond line read-through" on backlit signs and clear displays.
-
Primer-Less Metal Bonding: Aggressively bonds raw metals (aluminum, steel) to plastics without the need for time-consuming sanding or chemical priming.
-
Non-Sag Thixotropic Gel: The adhesive stays where you put it, even on vertical surfaces or overhead joints, without dripping or running.
-
High Impact & Peel Strength: The cured bond retains toughness, allowing it to withstand vibration, impact, and the differential expansion between metal frames and plastic panels.

Product Name
SciGrip Weld-On 46C Translucent Acrylic Adhesive for Primer-Less Bonding of Aluminum, Metals, and Acrylics - 6 to 9 Minute Working Time - 50mL and 490mL 10:1 Mix Ratio
Brief Description
- Weld-On 46C is a two-component, clear to translucent, thixotropic, reactive acrylic adhesive engineered for high-strength bonding of various metals, acrylics, and other plastics. It is specifically designed to create invisible bond lines with no read-through, making it ideal for applications requiring aesthetic clarity and strong structural integrity.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Sign and display manufacturing, particularly for bonding trim cap to polycarbonate lettering.- Metal-to-acrylic bonding.- Acrylic-to-acrylic and polycarbonate-to-polycarbonate joints.- Assemblies involving cold rolled steel and stainless steel.- General fabrication and manufacturing uses where clear adhesive lines and strong bonds are critical.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Sign & Display- Metal Fabrication- Plastic Fabrication- General Manufacturing- LED/Electronics (due to UL 746C approval for electrical signage applications)- Transportation/ Specialty Vehicle (as a broader application for acrylic adhesives in bonding metals and plastics)- Aerospace/Defense (as a broader application for acrylic adhesives in bonding metals and plastics)- Automotive Service/Repair (as a broader application for acrylic adhesives in bonding metals and plastics)- Marine (as a broader application for acrylic adhesives in bonding metals and plastics)
