Permabond UV670 is a crystal-clear, single-part UV-curable adhesive specifically engineered for high-stress glass bonding applications. Unlike rigid UV glues that can cause glass to crack under thermal expansion, UV670 features a unique flexible formulation that absorbs stress, making it the premier choice for bonding glass to metal, glass to plastic, and glass to glass.
Its optical clarity and refractive index are matched closely to glass, creating "invisible" structural joints for display cases, glass furniture, and art installations. It cures on demand upon exposure to UV light, allowing for infinite open time to perfectly align complex glass assemblies before locking them in place.
It is a medium viscosity, moderatly flowing UV glue
Features & Benefits
- Cure on demand
- Flexible, good impact resistance
- Fast curing with low-power lamps
- 100% solids, no solvents
- Excellent adhesion to glass and metals

*The cure time depends on the power of the UV lamp, its spectral output, the distance between the lamp and the components, and the transmission characteristics of the substrates.
**LED UV lamps have a narrow range of spectral output. It is important to check suitability with Permabond in order to match the LED lamp’s peak wavelength with that of the adhesive’s photoinitiator to ensure optimal adhesive cure.
Product Name
Permabond UV670 Crystal Clear Flexible UV Glass Adhesive
Brief Description
Permabond UV670 is a medium-viscosity, 100% solids UV-curing adhesive designed to create invisible, load-bearing bonds on glass. While many UV glues are brittle, UV670 cures to a flexible, high-elongation polymer that allows joints to withstand vibration, impact, and thermal expansion without shattering the glass substrate. Its optical clarity makes it ideal for "seamless" construction where the glue line must disappear.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Invisible Glass Joints: Creating seamless edges on glass display cases and retail shelving.
- Glass Furniture: Bonding metal legs or mounting disks to glass tables (Glass-to-Metal).
- Art & Decor: Bonding beveled glass, crystal ornaments, and trophies.
- Architectural Glass: Bonding decorative elements to mirrors or windows.
- Plastic to Glass: Bonding clear plastics (Acrylic/Polycarbonate) to glass substrates.
- Electronics: Potting and sealing displays or sensors where transparency is critical.
- Laminating: Bonding glass bevels to base glass.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Artist, Artisan
- Furniture (Glass & Metal)
- Sign & Display
- Construction/ Building Services
- General Manufacturing
- Fabrication
- LED/Electronics
- Automotive Service/Repair
- Medical Device/ Prosthetics
Special and Unique Features
- Stress-Absorbing Flexibility: High elongation (>80%) prevents glass cracking during thermal cycling or impact.
- Optical Invisibility: Refractive index >1.490 is closely matched to glass, making bond lines virtually disappear.
- Non-Yellowing: Excellent resistance to yellowing over time, even in sunlight.
- Cure on Demand: Remains liquid until exposed to UV light, allowing perfect positioning of heavy or delicate glass parts.
- Solvent-Free: 100% reactive solids means no shrinkage during cure, preserving the aesthetic finish.
Key Properties
- Chemistry: Methacrylate Ester (UV Curable)
- Appearance: Colorless, Optically Clear
- Viscosity: 2,000 - 3,000 cP (Medium flow, honey-like)
- Elongation: >80% (High Flexibility)
- Refractive Index: >1.490
- Hardness: 50-60 Shore D
- Shear Strength (Glass/Steel): 870 - 1,450 psi
Surface Compatibility
- Glass: Float glass, tempered glass, crystal, mirrors (backside must be sealed or tested).
- Metals: Steel, Aluminum, Stainless Steel (ideal for mounting hardware to glass).
- Plastics: Acrylic, Polycarbonate, PET (Note: UV light must be able to pass through at least one substrate).
- Metallized Plastics: Bonding decorative trim to glass.
Known backups / known substitutes
- Permabond UV620: Higher strength, less flexible (for pure glass-to-glass).
- Permabond UV625: Thixotropic Gel version (for vertical glass joints where dripping is a concern).
- Loctite 349: A standard rigid UV glass bonder.
- Dymax 4-2041: A general-purpose glass bonder.
Comparison Note
Permabond UV670 distinguishes itself from standard "hardware store" UV glues by its flexibility. Standard UV acrylates cure very hard and rigid; if you bond a steel foot to a glass table with a rigid glue, the different expansion rates (when the room gets hot or cold) can cause the glass to snap. UV670 has enough "give" (elongation) to absorb that stress, protecting the glass from failure. It is the professional choice for mixed-material glass assemblies.
