Permabond UV6302 is a single-part, fast-setting UV-curable adhesive developed specifically for bonding plastics. It combines very low viscosity with strong adhesion to materials such as polycarbonate, rigid PVC and PMMA, making it especially useful for close-fitting assemblies where the adhesive needs to wick into a tight joint by capillary action.

UV6302 cures on demand when the adhesive line is exposed to a compatible light source in its documented 365–420 nm cure range. Under the TDS test conditions, it can reach fixture strength in seconds, helping speed assembly while giving operators control over when cure begins.

Light Source & Cure Considerations

The curing light must reach the adhesive line. The TDS specifies a cure wavelength of 365–420 nm and reports the fixture times above using a low-power handheld lamp at 3–5 mW/cm². Industrial UV lamps may cure faster. LED UV lamps have a narrow spectral output, so the LED peak wavelength must be appropriately matched to the adhesive photoinitiator; do not assume that any UV lamp will produce the same cure.

Directions for Use

  1. Make sure bonding surfaces are clean, dry and grease-free. Isopropanol can be used to degrease most surfaces. Remove silicone-based cleaning residues. Aluminum, copper and copper alloys may benefit from light abrasion to remove oxide.
  2. When bonding thermoplastics, test compatibility first; mold-release agents can reduce bond strength.
  3. Apply directly from the bottle or with suitable automated dispensing equipment. Minimize exposure of the uncured adhesive to ambient light.
  4. Assemble the parts while avoiding trapped air in the joint, then hold the parts firmly without movement.
  5. Expose the adhesive line to a compatible 365–420 nm light source for sufficient time to achieve the required cure. Cure time varies with light intensity, spectral output, distance and the transmission characteristics of the substrates.

Storage & Handling

Protect the liquid adhesive from room lighting and direct sunlight, and keep the container tightly closed when not in use. The TDS lists storage at 5–25°C (41–77°F), while the SDS specifies storage in the closed original container at 44–77°F (approximately 7–25°C). Do not return unused material to the storage container.

Safety: Review the SDS before use. The uncured product is classified as a corrosive material and can cause severe skin burns and eye damage. Avoid skin and eye contact, use adequate ventilation, and wear suitable protective gloves, protective clothing and eye/face protection.
