Application Instructions
1. Surface Prep: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and grease-free. Use Isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) wipe if necessary.
2. Mixing & Dispensing: Use a static mixer to apply a thin, even bead of mixed adhesive.
3. Assembly & Clamping: Press parts firmly and maintain pressure until handling strength is achieved.
4. Curing Notes: Adhesive cures best inside joints (anaerobic). Adhesive exposed to air may remain tacky for an extended time (not a defect, just a characteristic, it will eventually lose it's tackness). Remove excess before curing.
Avoiding Common Issues
■ Leaving large beads ® sticky residue.
■ One side exposed to air → tacky, sticky surface. or crystalization or crystal-like curing
■ Not clamping long enough ® weak bond.
■ Stressing before full cure ® joint failure.
■ Always allow full cure before loading.
Troubleshooting
Still tacky? Exposed to air, not a bond failure, allow it to keep curing, can take a while to lose tackiness.
Crystalization? Exposed to air, not a bond failure, allow it to keep curing, can take a while to lose tackiness.
Slow to grab? Possibly TA4610 (longer cure) or surface contamination.
Joint failed? Likely due to early stress or insufficient clamping.
Product Name
Permabond TA4610 Polyolefin (PE, PP), Teflon (PTFE) & Rubber Bonder Thick Gel 12-15 min Acrylic MMA Adhesive Off-White
Brief Description
Permabond TA4610 is a two-part, toughened acrylic (MMA) adhesive specifically formulated for high-strength bonding of low surface energy plastics such as polypropylene, polyethylene (PE, HDPE), and PTFE (Teflon), as well as rubber, metals, and composites. It eliminates the need for primers or surface treatments on these difficult-to-bond materials. This adhesive features a thick gel consistency and offers a 12-15 minute fixture time, allowing for repositioning before setting.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Bonding interior and under-hood plastics in automotive applications.- Joining HDPE panels, parts, and tanks in industrial settings.- Attaching large panels with polypropylene backers in the sign and display industry.- Bonding dissimilar materials, such as plastics to metals or composites.- Applications requiring water exposure or underwater performance.- General manufacturing where reliable bonding of polyolefins and other difficult plastics is essential.- Assembly of consumer goods involving plastic/metal parts.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- General Manufacturing- Plastic Fabrication- Automotive Service/Repair- Transportation/ Specialty Vehicle- Marine- Sign & Display- Metal Fabrication- Chemical Industry- Fabrication- Distributers & Resellers- Industrial Supply
Special and Unique Features
- Bonds low surface energy plastics (PE, PP, PTFE) without primers or surface treatment (e.g., plasma, flame).- Two-part, 1:1 mix ratio for easy application.- Thick gel consistency, optimized for bonding assemblies with larger gaps (up to 1mm, contains microbeads).- High impact strength and good chemical resistance.- Excellent water resistance, suitable for submerged applications.- Room temperature cure, no heat or UV required.- Non-hazardous for shipping.- Forms strong bonds between dissimilar materials.

Comparison Note
Permabond TA4610 distinguishes itself by effectively bonding challenging low surface energy plastics (polyolefins, PTFE) and rubber without requiring extensive surface preparation like primers, flame, or plasma treatment, which significantly reduces process time and cost. Its thick gel consistency and 12-15 minute fixture time provide a valuable balance for applications that need some repositioning and good gap-filling capabilities, setting it apart from faster-setting or thinner alternatives within the TA4600 series. Furthermore, it offers excellent environmental durability, including strong resistance to water and various chemicals, ensuring long-lasting bonds.
