Surface Compatibility

- Plastics: Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Polycarbonate (PC), Phenolic Resins.- Rubbers: Buna N (Nitrile) rubber bonds very quickly and effectively. Other rubbers should be tested. Silicone rubber requires Permabond POP primer.- Metals: Steel, Aluminium, Zinc. Cleaning and light abrasion are recommended for best results.- Other Materials: Ceramics, Wood (porous, may require activator for faster cure).

Comparison Note

Permabond 102 is ideal when speed is paramount, offering handling strength in seconds for high-volume assembly or quick fixes on tight-fitting parts, making it significantly faster than epoxies or polyurethanes. It is also superior to solvent cements for bonding dissimilar materials or when a solvent-free solution is required. However, it is not recommended for applications requiring significant gap filling (greater than 0.15mm), high impact or peel strength, flexibility in the bond line, or continuous exposure to high temperatures (>80°C) or polar solvents, where higher viscosity cyanoacrylates, structural acrylics, or epoxies might be more suitable.
