Maven UP-134 Universal MMA Adhesive Primer – One-Coat Moisture-Cure Primer for Glass, Metals & Ceramics

Maven UP-134 Universal MMA Adhesive Primer is a one-coat, moisture-cure primer and surface modifier that promotes adhesion to polar substrates. Wipe or spray a thin coat onto glass, steel, aluminum, brass, e-coated metal, ceramic tile, vitrified clay pipe, concrete or glass fabric, let it cure in ambient humidity, and bond within 24 hours. It is a clear, straw-yellow, low-viscosity solvent solution that dries to a film only 0.06 to 0.10 mil thick, so it adds no measurable bondline.

UP-134 also works as a primer for reaction injection molding (RIM) of polyurethane to glass. One coat covers most applications, which cuts labor, solvent use and inventory compared with two-step primer systems. Made in the USA. For industrial and commercial use by trained personnel only.

How to Use

1. Clean. For glass, clean the bond surface with a vinegar-modified glass cleaner. For other substrates, wipe with a suitable solvent and let dry.
2. Apply. Apply one thin, even coat by spray, dip or polyester felt applicator. Target a dry film thickness of 0.06 to 0.10 mil (1.52 to 2.54 micron). Do not mix or dilute.
3. Cure. Allow the primer to hydrolyze in moist air (50 to 80% RH) at 70 to 90°F (21 to 32°C) for 1 to 2 hours. To shorten cure, oven parts at 190°F (88°C) for 3 minutes with 50 to 80% RH air drawn into the oven. Large parts need more time.
4. Bond. Apply the topcoat, adhesive or encapsulating polymer within 24 hours of primer cure.

Cleanup: remove wet primer with toluene or alcohol. Cured primer must be removed mechanically by abrasion, blasting or grinding.

UP-134 is a flammable liquid (flash point 35°F) and carries a GHS signal word of Danger. Use only with adequate ventilation, away from heat, sparks and open flame, with nitrile or neoprene gloves and eye protection. For industrial and commercial use by trained personnel only; not for household or consumer use. After opening, keep the container tightly closed to prevent moisture contamination, which will cure the primer in the bottle. Do not use on substrates that are not compatible with toluene or alcohol.
