Maven MMA 590 is a two-part methacrylate adhesive suitable for structural bonding of various metals, plastics and composites.
MMA 590 is a direct substitute / backup formula for the Plexus MA590.
MMA 590 is stocked in two colors: Black and White, and Black can be ordered also.
And works particularly well for Marine & Boat assembly & repairs. The product can be used for larger assemblies and for filling larger gaps. This is a 1:1-part methacrylate adhesive with an open time of 90 minutes to 110 minutes and handling strength can be achieved in 300 minutes - 420 minutes. Give excellent bond strength along with good toughness and high impact strength. Highly recommended in marine and other composite assemblies.
Please Note: These cartridges are designed to work best with a 50ml or 400ml cartridge Dispenser, respectively. We advise you use a 50ml or 400ml Dispenser for all respective cartridges. If you do not have one, please check out our Dispensers, all are excellent products and have our 'it's good' seal of approval.
If you prefer not to use a Dispenser, we have some 50ml kits that include hand tools or caulking dispenser adapters, as pictured, that you can use for small jobs. But the 400ml cartridges really need to use a 400ml Dispenser, they're just too big to effectively use without the dispenser.

Directions of applications
Wipe off and degrease the surface to be bonded. Use eye protection and gloves to avoid skin contact. Dispense a desirable amount of adhesive using a dispensing dispenser. The nozzle sizes can be selected according to the desired bond thickness. Join the substrates with the specified work-life of this material and allow it to cure at room temperature. Do not disturb the parts during the curing process. Excess adhesive can be wiped off. (For optimum strength, surface preparation for the metals like sandblast, etching is suggested).
Safety and handling
Wear eye protection and gloves. Harmful if swallowed. Keep it away from heat, flames. Keep out of reach of children. Once used keep the containers closed.
Storage and shelf life
Store this product in a tightly closed container in a cool and well-ventilated area. Product should not be frozen. Keep it away from any source of heat. Store the material in between 51℉ to 75℉. Continuous exposure above 75℃ will reduce the shelf life.
Product Name
Maven MMA 590 - Slow Set 90-110 minutes MMA Marine-Optimized Adhesive - Thick/High Viscosity Black or White 1:1 ratio
Brief Description
Maven MMA 590 is a two-part, slow-setting methyl methacrylate (MMA) structural adhesive engineered for robust and durable bonding in demanding marine and industrial environments. It offers an extended working time of 90-110 minutes, making it suitable for larger assemblies and applications requiring precise alignment or significant gap filling. This high-viscosity adhesive provides exceptional strength, impact resistance, and environmental durability, bonding a wide range of dissimilar materials with minimal surface preparation.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Structural bonding in boat and marine assembly and repairs, including hulls, deck liners, ski boats, yachts, internal fixtures, canoes, and kayaks.- Bonding of composite materials in marine and other assemblies.- Large assemblies and projects requiring extended setup time.- Filling larger gaps (0.75mm-15mm or .03in-.60in).- General product assembly, manufacturing, and repair applications.- Bonding panels for trucks and construction equipment, including side and roof panels, door panels, and aerodynamic components.- Attaching seating and securing navigation equipment in boats.- Replacing mechanical fasteners and welding joints in various structural applications.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Marine- General Manufacturing- Fabrication- Transportation/ Specialty Vehicle- Construction/ Building Services- Metal Fabrication- Plastic Fabrication- Aerospace/Defense
Special and Unique Features
- Marine-optimized for harsh environments, offering excellent resistance to water, saltwater, and environmental factors.- Slow set with a long working time of 90-110 minutes, ideal for large assemblies or complex setups.- Thick/High Viscosity for gap filling (up to 15mm or 0.60in) and vertical applications without sagging.- High impact strength and toughness, providing durability under stress, vibration, and dynamic loads.- Excellent resistance to hydrocarbons, acids, and bases.- Operates efficiently in extreme temperatures from -50°F to 250°F (-40°C to 120°C).- Minimal to no surface preparation required for many substrates.- Can bond dissimilar materials with different flexibility, accommodating thermal expansion and contraction.- Cures at room temperature.

Known backups / known substitutes
- Plexus MA590- Infinity Bond MMA 590 (similar product with extended working time)- Other slow-set, high-strength MMA adhesives like Infinity Bond MMA 422 (though with a shorter working time of ~20 minutes).- SciGrip MMA adhesives (e.g., SG 300-40, though with different mix ratios and working times).
Comparison Note
Maven MMA 590, as a slow-set, high-viscosity MMA adhesive, offers distinct advantages over other adhesive types in specific applications. Compared to epoxies, MMAs are generally less brittle, more flexible, and better at bonding dissimilar materials, accommodating thermal expansion and contraction without cracking. They also typically require less surface preparation than epoxies or polyurethanes. While some epoxies might offer higher ultimate tensile strength, MMA adhesives like Maven MMA 590 excel in impact, peel, and fatigue resistance, making them ideal for dynamic marine environments subject to vibration and stress. The extended working time of 90-110 minutes is significantly longer than many other MMA adhesives (which can be 5-20 minutes), providing ample time for complex assemblies and precise positioning, especially for large components or gap filling.
