Mactac IM1900XT is a sign mounting tape built on a 1/32 inch white crosslinked PE foam carrier with high tack XT rubber adhesive at 1.8 mils per side, 34.85 mils of total caliper, and an 83# white SCK liner. Three quarter inch is the width sign shops and display houses cut most, because it keeps tape off the sight line on a shallow return while still carrying real load. Move up to the 1 inch width when the panel gets heavier. Both widths run 216 feet to a roll.
Where this sign mounting tape fits
It runs down the return of a channel letter or a fabricated sign face, sets acrylic and styrene panels onto point of purchase fixtures, holds trim and moldings on displays, and mounts light nameplates, badges, and hardware where a full inch of tape would show past the part. Wire clip and cable management mounting works the same way. The foam carrier bridges the gap left by a weld bead, an extrusion draft angle, or a heavy powder coat run, and it damps the buzz a thin rigid panel picks up near a fan or compressor.
Popular Uses
- Channel letter and sign face returns
- Acrylic and styrene panels onto point of purchase fixtures
- Trim and moldings on displays
- Nameplates, badges, and light hardware
- Wire clips and cable management
- Die cut pads and strips, since the 83# liner feeds a rotary die without breaking
Sign Mounting Tape Performance
The XT adhesive is a high tack rubber system on both faces, so parts grab on contact and the joint reaches strength without a cure window. Under static load it passes 500 hours before shear failure. Adhesion holds on low surface energy plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene, on primed wood and paper, on painted and bare metal, and on firm foam, rubber, and flexible magnet. Both faces are permanent, so set the position before the liner comes all the way off. Pulling a part back after full contact tears the foam rather than releasing the bond.
Physical Properties
- Part number: IM1900XT
- Carrier: 1/32 in white crosslinked PE foam
- Adhesive: XT high tack rubber, both sides, 1.8 mil per side
- Caliper, carrier and adhesive: 34.85 mil
- Liner: 83# white SCK
- Roll sizes: 3/4 in x 216 ft and 1 in x 216 ft
- Shear strength: 500 plus hours to failure
- Application temperature: 50F minimum
- Service temperature: 0F to 180F
- Color: white
Surface Preparation
Surface prep decides the bond. Wipe both faces clear of dust, oil, and release agent, let them dry, peel the liner back a few inches, set the part, then press the full length with a roller so the adhesive wets into the texture.

Product Name
Mactac IM1900XT Double Coated Foam Tape (Macmount XT)
Brief Description
IM1900XT is the Macmount XT mounting tape, a 1/32 inch white crosslinked PE foam carrier with high tack XT rubber adhesive at 1.8 mils per side. It is stocked here in the two widths sign shops and display houses cut most, 3/4 inch and 1 inch, both 216 feet to a roll. The narrower width keeps tape off the sight line on a shallow return while still carrying real load.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Channel letter and sign face returns
- Acrylic and styrene panels onto point of purchase fixtures
- Trim and moldings on displays
- Nameplates, badges, and light hardware
- Wire clips and cable management
- Flexible magnet mounting
- Die cut pads and strips run on a rotary die
- Mounting over weld beads, extrusion draft angles, and heavy powder coat runs
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Sign & Display: the core market. Channel letter returns, sign faces, and fabricated panels.
- Retail, Retail Stores: point of purchase fixtures and temporary display build.
- Plastic Fabrication: acrylic and styrene panel mounting, plus low surface energy plastics that need no primer.
- Metal Fabrication: bridging weld beads and extrusion draft on fabricated assemblies.
- Special Effects/ Scenic Design: set and display panels that go up fast and carry load.
- Artist, Artisan: display and craft assembly at roll quantities that suit one project.
- Electrical Services or Products: wire clip and cable management mounting.
- Cabinet & Woodworking and Furniture: trim and molding attachment on primed wood.
- General Manufacturing & Maintenance & Repair: nameplate and hardware mounting, plus damping panel buzz near fans and compressors.
Special and Unique Features
- Grabs on Contact: high tack rubber on both faces, so the joint reaches strength with no cure window.
- Two Working Widths: 3/4 inch keeps tape off the sight line, 1 inch carries the heavier panel.
- Holds on LSE Plastics: polyethylene and polypropylene without a primer step.
- Bonds Flexible Magnet: along with firm foam, rubber, primed wood, and paper.
- Converts Cleanly: the 83# white SCK liner feeds a rotary die without breaking and peels in one piece by hand.
- Damps Vibration: the crosslinked foam absorbs the buzz a thin rigid panel picks up near a fan or compressor.

Surface Compatibility
Adhesion holds across the range Mactac lists for the XT adhesive, including surfaces that usually need a primer.
- Low surface energy plastics including polyethylene and polypropylene
- Acrylic and styrene sheet
- Painted and bare metal
- Powder coated metal
- Primed wood and paper
- Firm foam and rubber
- Flexible magnet
- Glass
Known backups / known substitutes
- Mactac IM1763, Ultra 555 rubber on 1/32 inch PE foam, for a wider -40F service floor
- Mactac IM1863, Ultra 555 on 1/16 inch foam, when the substrate is out of plane
- Mactac GS1001, 20 mil unsupported rubber transfer adhesive for fastener replacement
- The same XT adhesive runs on 1/16 inch and 1/8 inch foam in white and black for heavier panels
Comparison Note
Macmount XT is the high tack option in the Mactac mounting range, which is why sign and display shops reach for it over Ultra 555 when parts have to hold the second they are pressed. The trade is service range. XT runs 0F to 180F where Ultra 555 holds from -40F to 190F, so pick Ultra 555 for anything that will see a cold warehouse or an unheated exterior wall.
