LOCTITE® 565 is a one-part, high-viscosity anaerobic thread sealant for locking and sealing tapered metal pipe threads and fittings. The off-white paste cures between close-fitting metal surfaces, provides an instant seal for moderate-pressure testing when fittings are properly tightened, and helps prevent loosening and leakage caused by shock and vibration. Its controlled, low-strength formulation supports later disassembly with standard hand tools.

Benefits

  • One-part formula requires no mixing
  • Seals and locks tapered metal pipe threads and fittings
  • Provides an instant low-pressure seal on properly tightened fittings
  • Resists most industrial fluids
  • Controlled strength supports easier disassembly
  • Low-odor, thixotropic paste stays where applied

Technical Specifications

  • Technology: Acrylic, anaerobic cure
  • Chemical base: Methacrylate ester
  • Appearance: Off-white paste
  • Components: One part
  • Strength: Low
  • Specific gravity: 1.1 at 25°C
  • Continuous temperature resistance: Up to 150°C (300°F)

Directions for Use

  1. Clean internal and external threads with an appropriate LOCTITE cleaning solvent and allow them to dry.
  2. For inactive metals or slow cure conditions, apply LOCTITE Activator 7471 or 7649 and allow it to dry.
  3. Apply a continuous 360° bead to the leading male threads, leaving the first thread free, and work the product into the threads. Apply to female threads as well when larger threads or voids require it.
  4. Assemble and wrench-tighten the fitting according to the fitting manufacturer's recommendations.
  5. Allow at least 24 hours for maximum pressure and solvent resistance.

Storage

Store unopened in a dry location. Optimal storage is 8°C to 21°C (46°F to 70°F). Temperatures below 8°C or above 28°C (82°F) can adversely affect product properties. Do not return unused material to the original container.

Safety and Use Limitations

  • Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems.
  • Do not use as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials.
  • Not normally recommended for plastics, particularly thermoplastics that may stress crack; confirm compatibility before use.
  • WARNING: Cancer and Reproductive Harm — www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
  • Consult the current Safety Data Sheet before handling or use.
