Loctite 262 Red Threadlocker is a medium to high-strength anaerobic adhesive that permanently locks and seals threaded metal fasteners while helping prevent loosening from shock and vibration. It cures when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces and requires localized heat and hand tools for disassembly.
Use it on bolts and studs up to M25 (1 in) to M36 in diameter for heavy-duty applications such as transmissions, construction equipment, and railroad assemblies. The thixotropic red formula resists migration after application and fluoresces under UV light for easy quality inspection. Tolerates light contamination from motor oil, cutting fluids, and corrosion-prevention oils.

How to Use
- Clean and dry the male and female threads. Remove oil, grease, dirt, and old adhesive.
- Apply several drops to the bolt where the threads will engage. For blind holes, apply product into the internal threads.
- Assemble and tighten to the required torque while the product is still wet.
- Allow the assembly to remain undisturbed during the initial set period. Full cure develops in 24 hours.
To disassemble, apply localized heat to approximately 250°C (482°F) and remove with hand tools while hot. Clean residue with a solvent and wire brush.

Important Limitations
For metal threaded assemblies only. Not recommended for plastic parts, particularly thermoplastics, due to potential stress cracking. Do not use in pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems, or as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials. Store unopened product between 46°F and 70°F (8°C to 21°C); storage outside 46°F to 82°F (8°C to 28°C) can adversely affect product properties.
