Product Name
Devcon 11460 Wear Guard High Impact Micro Alumina Ceramic Beaded-filled Epoxy 30lb
Brief Description
Devcon 11460 Wear Guard High Impact is a high-density, micro alumina ceramic bead-filled epoxy system with urethane acrylate, specifically engineered as a protective coating and repair compound. This two-part, non-sagging paste is designed to provide superior resistance against extreme impact, wear, and abrasion, while also offering flexural strength in demanding industrial environments.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Protecting critical plant and equipment subject to high levels of impact, wear, and abrasive conditions.- Lining and repairing chutes and hoppers.- Protecting and rebuilding pumps, including slurry pumps, pump liners, and impellers.- Coating scrubbers and screens.- Repairing large crushers and screw conveyors.- Protecting materials handling equipment.- Lining valve internals in abrasive services.- Repairing cyclone and separator bodies, dust collectors, and exhausters.- Protecting fan blades and housings, pipe elbows, and transition points.- Rebuilding heat exchangers and tube sheets.- Creating wear plates and filling lost ceramic wear tiles.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- General Manufacturing (for heavy machinery, processing equipment, materials handling, pumps, conveyors, chutes, hoppers)- Metal Fabrication (for repair and protection of metal components)- Chemical Industry (due to its chemical-resistant and inert properties)- Construction/ Building Services (for concrete compatibility and heavy-duty repairs)- Energy (for applications like coal-fired boiler tubes and ash handling systems)- Marine (for metals exposed to seawater, with specific surface preparation)- Distributers & Resellers (as it is sold through industrial distributors)
Special and Unique Features
- High-density, micro alumina ceramic bead-filled epoxy system for extreme wear resistance.- Incorporates urethane acrylate for superior impact abrasion and enhanced flexural strength.- Non-sagging putty/creamy paste consistency allows for easy application on vertical and overhead surfaces, up to 3/4" thick, without slumping.- Offers high compression and impact strength, providing robust protection against physical forces.- Exhibits outstanding resistance to a wide range of chemicals.- Provides excellent adhesion, particularly to metal substrates, distinguishing it among beaded products.- Can be machined, drilled, or painted after achieving full cure, allowing for versatile finishing.

Comparison Note
Devcon 11460 Wear Guard High Impact is specifically formulated for environments experiencing significant impact and abrasion, distinguishing itself with its micro alumina ceramic bead filling and flexible urethane acrylate additive. While other Devcon Wear Guard products exist for varying wear conditions (e.g., larger particulate or higher temperatures), this particular product excels in high-impact scenarios. Its non-sagging putty consistency and superior adhesion to metal make it highly versatile for challenging application surfaces, offering a robust and long-lasting protective solution compared to traditional wear compounds.
