Syntho-Glass® is the original patented fiberglass repair wrap with resin system, designed for fast and dependable pipe reinforcement. It is pre-impregnated and activated by either fresh or saltwater, so it’s ready to use straight out of its hermetically sealed foil pouch, without any measuring or mixing required.
When used with the right primary sealant, Syntho-Glass® can repair and reinforce virtually any pipe in minutes. It not only restores the pipe to its original pressure rating but can even make the repaired section stronger than before, while helping reduce costly downtime and saving on replacement parts and labor.
Because it cures quickly, within just 30 minutes at 75°F (24°C), Syntho-Glass® is ideal for emergency leak repair. It works across a wide range of materials, including copper, steel, stainless steel, PVC, FRP, clay, concrete, and rubber pipes. Plus, it is nontoxic, noncombustible, and odorless, so it’s inherently safe for use in demanding environments.
Each Syntho-Glass® Pipe Repair Kit includes all the components needed for installation. And since it arrives sealed, portable, and immediately ready to apply, it ensures simple, effective, and long-lasting repairs wherever and whenever you need them.

Product Name
SynthoGlass Pipe Repair Kits
Brief Description
SynthoGlass Pipe Repair Kits are patented, water-activated fiberglass composite wraps designed for rapid, durable, and cost-effective repair and reinforcement of various pipes. They are pre-impregnated with a resin system, eliminating the need for mixing, and cure quickly to form a strong, permanent seal. These kits are available for both depressurized and pressurized (up to 60 psi) pipe leak repairs.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Emergency leak repair on live, pressurized pipes (up to 60 psi) or depressurized pipes.- Sealing leaks on joints, tees, couplings, and pinholes.- Repair of corroded pipes, cracks, and fissures.- Impact protection and reinforcement.- Repair of irregular pipe fittings.- Force mains and gravity lines repair.- Underwater repair and splash zone applications.- Restoration of pipe to its original pressure rating, often making the repaired area stronger.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Petroleum Industry, Products or Services- Marine- Government & Military- Construction/ Building Services- Energy- Industrial Supply- Distributers & Resellers- General Manufacturing- Pool/Spa/Plumbing
Special and Unique Features
- Water-activated fiberglass pre-impregnated composite.- Supplied as a complete kit with all necessary materials.- Quick and easy installation without special tools, mixing, or mess.- Cures rock-hard in minutes (typically 30 minutes at 75°F/24°C).- NSF 61 and BS6920 compliant for drinking water contact (when used with appropriate primary sealant like Syntho-Steel/ESN-202).- Nontoxic, noncombustible, and odorless.- Environmentally safe with no VOCs.- Available in General Purpose and Industrial Grades (Industrial grade is more flexible and conforms to military specifications).- UP (Under Pressure) kits include specialized pressure-sealing rubber tape for live leaks up to 60 psi.
Key Properties
- Resin Type: Water-activated polyurethane.- Resin Application: Pre-impregnated.- Set Time: 30 minutes at 75°F (24°C) (some sources mention 7 minutes for SynthoGlass).- Service Temperature: -50° to 250°F (-45° to 121°C) for Syntho-Glass.- Application Temperature: 32° to 150°F (0° to 65°C).- Pressure once cured (with primary sealant): Max 300 psi (20.6 bar) for standard Syntho-Glass.- Pressure for UP kits: Up to 60 psi (4.1 bar) for live leaks.- VOCs: None.- Excellent adhesion to many substrates.- Good chemical resistance range.
Surface Compatibility
- Copper- Steel- Stainless Steel (SS)- PVC- FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic)- Clay- Concrete- Rubber- Other substrates.
Known backups / known substitutes
- Syntho-Steel (now ESN-202): A steel-reinforced epoxy putty often used as a primary sealant or filler in conjunction with SynthoGlass for added strength and chemical resistance.- Syntho-Poxy™HC: A filler component for Syntho-Glass XT system.- Other composite pipe repair systems (e.g., Composite-Clamp™, Leak Stopper™, Pipe Wrap®, TridentSeal® from the same manufacturer/distributor).- Traditional pipe repair methods (e.g., welding, pipe replacement) are alternatives, though SynthoGlass offers a faster, no-hot-work solution.
Comparison Note
SynthoGlass Pipe Repair Kits offer a rapid, ready-to-use, and durable alternative to traditional pipe repair methods, significantly reducing downtime and labor costs. Unlike many conventional repairs, SynthoGlass can be applied without special tools, mixing, or hot work, and some versions (UP kits) can even seal live leaks under pressure. Its ability to restore and often exceed the original pipe's strength, combined with NSF 61 compliance for potable water, makes it a versatile and reliable solution for critical industrial and emergency applications.
