CSNRI Compression Film (Red) for High Temp and High Performance Repair Jobs. Comp Film Red is used with a variety of Engineered Pipe Repair systems to ensure proper compression during the curing process. Red compression film, helps to enable the precice performance requirements that the repair has been configured to accomplish.
Compression Film may be removed after perforation once the material hardens or may also be left in place.
Used with all SynthoGlass Engineered Repair Systems, as well as all standard pipe repair kits, and with all brands of standard repair products and operations.
Two Film Roll Sizes:
- #R12500 : 12-in x 700-foot rolls
- #R04500 : 4-in x 500-foot rolls
And One Silicone bonding tape option. Silicone tape helps the high-temp compression film adhere to itself as it wraps around the repair job.
- #ST500 : 1-in x 10-foot x 0.02-in (0.5mm)
NOTE: If you have repairs for High Operating Temperatures, or repairs requiring trained engineering professionals, then the Red compression film may be required.
Please reach out to us or CS-NRI for more advice on how to decide.
Product Name
SynthoGlass Compression Film (Red) for High Temp and High Performance Repair Jobs #R04500 & R12500 12-inch x 500-feet & 4-inch x 500-feet
Brief Description
This is a specialized compression film, colored red, designed to be used as an accessory with Syntho-Glass composite repair systems. Its primary function is to provide optimal compression during the curing process of high-temperature and high-performance pipe and structural repairs, ensuring proper adhesion and consolidation of the composite materials.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Ensuring proper compression during the curing of Syntho-Glass composite pipe and structural repairs.- High-temperature repair applications.- High-performance repair jobs.- Used in conjunction with pre-impregnated fiberglass repair wraps for pipelines.- Repair and reinforcement of internal and external corrosion on pipelines or structures.- Sealing leaks and restoring strength to pipelines and piping systems.- Applications involving irregular pipe fittings, joints, and tees.- Underwater and splash zone repairs.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Petroleum Industry, Products or Services- Energy (Oil & Gas, Power Generation)- Construction/Building Services- Marine- General Manufacturing- Government & Military- Industrial Supply- Engineering Services
Special and Unique Features
- Specifically designed for high-temperature and high-performance repair jobs.- Ensures proper compression during the curing of composite repair systems.- Red color for easy identification as a high-temp/high-performance variant.- Available in different widths (12-inch and 4-inch) and lengths (500-feet) for versatility.- Used as an overwrap for Syntho-Glass applications.- Perforated to allow gas generated by the curing process to escape.
Key Properties
- Material: Compression film (polymer-based).- Function: Provides external compression to composite wraps during curing.- Temperature Resistance: Engineered for high-temperature applications, capable of withstanding curing temperatures and contributing to high-performance repairs.- Compatibility: Designed for use with water-activated polyurethane resin composites like Syntho-Glass.- Curing Aid: Facilitates proper fiber-to-resin content ratios and helps eliminate voids for a strong, consolidated repair.
Surface Compatibility
- Used over Syntho-Glass composite wraps, which are compatible with a wide range of pipe materials including:- Copper- Steel- Stainless Steel- PVC- FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer)- Clay- Concrete- Rubber pipes
Known backups / known substitutes
- SynthoGlass Compression Film (Blue): A standard temperature and standard performance variant for less demanding applications.- Other Shrink Films/Tapes: General shrink tapes or films used in composite manufacturing, such as Hi-Shrink tapes (polyester, ETFE, polyamide), which offer controlled compression during curing.- Non-shrink films: Cellophane, nylon, or polypropylene (BOPP) are sometimes used but may lose tension at high temperatures, potentially leading to voids.
Comparison Note
The SynthoGlass Compression Film (Red) is specifically engineered for high-temperature and high-performance applications, distinguishing it from standard compression films (like the blue variant) that may not withstand the same thermal or mechanical demands during the curing process or in the final application. It is designed to work synergistically with the Syntho-Glass composite repair system to achieve optimal structural integrity and longevity in challenging environments. Unlike some generic films, this product is intended to maintain compression as temperatures rise during curing, which is critical for void elimination and proper resin flow, ensuring a superior repair.
