Crestomer 1152PA is the ultimate flexible structural adhesive for large-scale composite applications. It is a high-performance, two-part urethane acrylate that delivers over 100% elongation, providing unmatched impact and fatigue resistance. Its non-sag, gap-filling formula is perfect for bonding hulls, decks, and core materials without slumping, while the low-heat cure prevents surface distortion for a flawless finish. With multiple marine certifications, it's the trusted, durable choice for the most demanding bonding jobs.
Crestomer 1152PA is a two part, MEKP activated, pre-accelerated, highly thixotropic structural adhesive based on unsaturated urethane acrylate in a styrene monomer. It is used in many structural composite applications and has excellent adhesion to FRP laminates, core materials, wood and some metals.
Due to its excellent adhesion to a wide range of materials, 1152PA can also be used as a general purpose adhesive. It can be used for bonding diesel tanks, contour joints in FRP components, to build up damaged areas and to bond “green” FRP.
Each kit includes: 1 pail of Crestomer Resin, 1 bottle of the related MEKP Hardener, 1 mixing stick, 1 instruction and product data packet

Surface preparation
Crestomer 1152PA has excellent adhesion to FRP material provided that the surface has been maintained free of dust and grease. This can be guaranteed by the use of proprietary strippable cloths such as peel ply (without lubricant contaminates). If the laminate surface is more than three days old, it is recommended that they are lightly abraded and wiped with acetone or styrene on a lint-free cloth prior to bonding.
Application
Crestomer 1152PA is supplied pre-accelerated. The required hardener is a medium reactivity MEKP catalyst. The catalyst is added at 2% v/w.
MEKP activator volume needed for different container sizes:
- 1 quart pail (2.2 pounds): at 2% is 0.044 pounds (0.7 fl oz or 20 ml) of MEKP
- 1 gallon pail (8.8 pounds): at 2% is 0.18 pounds (2.8 fl oz or 82 ml) of MEKP
- 5 gallon pail (44 pounds): at 2% is 0.9 pounds (14 fl oz or 414 ml) of MEKP
- 50 gallon drum (440 pounds): at 2% is 8.8 pounds (1 US Gallon or 4 Liters) of MEKP
Crestomer® 1152PA can be applied with a spatula or from a dispensing unit, taking care to keep air entrapment to a minimum. Application should always be carried out at temperatures above 15oC / 59oF. Recommended temperature range for application is between 18oC and 25oC / 64oF - 77oF. The use of additional pigments or fillers is not recommended as they can affect the performance of the adhesive.
For industrial / commercial use only. The user must determine the suitability of a selected adhesive for a given substrate and application. Contact Perigee Direct, or a local Scott Bader representative for questions or assistance with the selection of adhesives for your

Storage and shelf life
Crestomer 1152PA should be stored between 2°C and 23°C/ 36°F and 73°F in the original unopened container in a dry well ventilated place. Protect from freezing and direct sunlight. Avoid contact with oxidising agents. Exposure to temperatures outside these conditions will affect shelf life. Ideally containers should be opened only immediately prior to use.
The shelf life for Crestomer products is defined from date of manufacture if stored as recommended. The expiry date is indicated on the product labels.

Known backups / known substitutes
- **Epoxy Adhesives:** Offer high strength and elevated temperature resistance, often used for general-purpose applications. They are typically more brittle and fast-curing.- **Acrylic Adhesives (Methacrylate Adhesives):** Known for bonding a wide range of substrates, including hard-to-bond plastics and oily metals, with minimal surface preparation. They offer rapid curing and high strength, even at low temperatures.- **Other Urethane Acrylate Adhesives:** Such as Crestomer 1150PA or Crestomer 1153PA, which may offer different working lives or cure profiles.- **MS Polymer Sealants:** For semi-structural or sealant applications, offering good strength, flexibility, and resistance to weathering and UV light, without the health risks associated with isocyanates.- **Silicone Sealants:** Provide a flexible bond that can withstand extreme temperatures, weathering, chemicals, and UV light, suitable for sealing applications but generally with lower strength than structural polyurethanes.
Comparison Note
Crestomer 1152PA, as a urethane acrylate structural adhesive, distinguishes itself by combining high strength with exceptional flexibility (over 100% elongation), making it particularly well-suited for applications that demand excellent impact and fatigue resistance, and the ability to compensate for thermal expansion and contraction between bonded substrates. While epoxy adhesives typically provide the highest strength and temperature resistance, and methacrylate adhesives offer faster curing and broader substrate compatibility with less surface preparation, Crestomer 1152PA's unique balance of toughness, flexibility, and controlled cure profile makes it a preferred choice for dynamic environments, especially within the marine, transportation, and structural composite manufacturing sectors where long-lasting, resilient bonds are critical.
