Kitchen Islands with Multi-Side Seating
The most common use for a double-sided support is a kitchen
island where the countertop extends past the cabinets on two sides. This is popular in T-shaped or large rectangular islands where family members or guests sit across from each other. The CarbonBar runs across the top of the cabinet or pony wall, providing a balanced "bridge" of support for both overhangs simultaneously.
Extended Breakfast Bars and Pass-Throughs
In homes with an open floor plan, a breakfast bar often serves as a transition between the kitchen and the living area. If the counter
extends toward the kitchen for food prep and toward the living room for seating, a double-sided support is used. Its slim profile (about 0.4 inches thick) allows it to be hidden within the stone or wood, maintaining a floating look that maximizes legroom.
Outdoor Kitchens and Patio Bars
Since carbon fiber is completely immune to rust, corrosion,
and moisture, these bars are a top choice for outdoor environments. They are used to support heavy granite or concrete slabs on outdoor grilling islands. Unlike steel brackets that can eventually streak or fail due to rain and salt air, the CarbonBar remains structurally sound indefinitely.
Commercial Cafes and Restaurant Counters
In commercial settings like coffee shops or bars, countertops often need to accommodate customers on one side and staff
workstations on the other. Double-sided supports allow for deep overhangs that can handle the weight of heavy equipment or leaning customers without the need for legs or pillars that would get in the way of cleaning or foot traffic.
Floating Desks and Collaborative Workstations
In modern office designs or home offices, long floating
desks are often mounted over a central support wall. The CarbonBar is used to reinforce these spans so that the desk remains rigid even under the weight of multiple monitors, computers, and desk accessories.
Multi-Sided Display Tables in Retail
High-end retail stores often use large stone or glass display tables. To achieve a minimalist aesthetic where the table surface
appears to be unsupported, designers use these hidden carbon fiber bars to provide the necessary tension and strength across the center of the display.
Key Advantages for These Use Cases:
No Knee Knocking: Eliminates bulky corbels or brackets that
people often hit their knees on while sitting.
Lightweight Installation: Because carbon fiber is 5x lighter
than steel, a single installer can easily position long bars (up to 42 inches or more) without needing a multi-person crew.
High Load Capacity: It is 4x stronger than steel, making it
safe for the heaviest 3cm natural stone slabs, which can weigh hundreds of pounds.
Minimalist Design: It allows for the invisible support look
that is standard in modern and contemporary architecture.
