Product Name
Leister 107.346 Welding mirror (ø 2 inch) 10.62" Welding Mirror
Brief Description
A specialized, PTFE-coated hot plate tool from Leister, the 107.346 Welding Mirror is designed for a plastic welding technique known as "mirror welding" or "hot plate welding" (also called butt welding). This accessory heats two plastic surfaces to their melting point, allowing them to be pressed together to create strong, uniform, and sealed butt joints.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Butt welding of plastic pipes, fittings, profiles, and sheet materials.- Joining large plastic parts or components with complex geometries.- Creating non-removable assemblies that can withstand high mechanical stresses and ensure sealing.- Applications in civil engineering, such as welding geomembranes in landfill projects.- Used in roofing and other building service applications involving plastic materials.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Plastic Fabrication- Construction/ Building Services- General Manufacturing- Energy (specifically for geomembrane applications)- Distributers & Resellers
Special and Unique Features
- PTFE-coated on all sides, which significantly extends its service life and provides non-stick properties.- Enables precise control and focusing of welding heat to ensure uniform fusion and strong welded joints.- Constructed from heat-resistant material, suitable for high-temperature plastic welding processes.- Features a clamping connection for secure attachment to compatible Leister hot air tools, such as the ELECTRON ST.- Designed to facilitate reliable, safe, and extremely strong connection techniques for plastics.
Key Properties
- Welding mirror diameter: ø 270 mm (10.63 inches).- Nozzle connection diameter: ø 50 mm (2 inches).- Maximum peak temperature: 260 °C (500 °F).- Coating: PTFE-coated for durability and non-stick performance.- Function: Provides heat focusing and temperature control for optimal plastic welding conditions.
Surface Compatibility
- HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene)- PP (Polypropylene)- LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene)- PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)- ABS thermoplastics- Various other thermoplastic materials suitable for hot plate welding.
Known backups / known substitutes
- Other plastic welding methods, including ultrasonic welding, hot gas welding, extrusion welding, and wire welding.- Alternative sizes and designs of Leister welding mirrors (e.g., 107.344, 107.345, 107.347) or hot plates from other manufacturers.
Comparison Note
Mirror welding, facilitated by tools like the Leister 107.346, is highly regarded for producing very reliable, safe, and exceptionally strong connections. This technique is particularly effective for joining plastic pipes and sheet materials, ranging from small to very large diameters. It ensures the creation of non-removable assemblies that can withstand significant mechanical stresses and provides superior sealing capabilities. The precise control over heat application offered by the welding mirror contributes to uniform material fusion and overall welding efficiency.
