Introducing The Maven MMA8005-W, a two-part structural acrylic adhesive, formulated optimized for for bonding a variety of hard-to-bond plastics, Including low surface energy plastics like polyethylene and polypropylene (PE, HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, PP, PPCO, PPHO) without the need for special surface preparation.

It is also a backup formulation (secondary spec) for the following popular adhesives:

  1. 3M DP8005 Polyolefin bonder
  2. Scigrip SG400 LSE Polyolefin bonder
  3. Permabond TA4600 series Polyolefin bonders

Product Features

  • Direct Substitute: MV8005-W is engineered to be a backup formula for 3M DP8005, offering comparable performance and application.

  • Versatile Bonding: It effectively bonds a wide range of plastics, including difficult-to-bond low surface energy plastics.

  • Fast & Efficient: With a 10:1 mix ratio, it has a working time of 2 to 5 minutes and achieves handling strength in 3 hours at room temperature.

  • Durability: The cured adhesive offers excellent resistance to common chemicals, including gasoline, toluene, and pump oil.

Technical Data

  • Color: White

  • Working Time: 2–5 minutes (at 75°F / 24°C)

  • Fixture Time: 8 hours (at 75°F / 24°C)

  • Hardness: 58-65 Shore D

  • Viscosity: Resin: 15,000–20,000 cps; Activator: 30,000–40,000 cps

Plastic Bonding Performance

The adhesive provides strong bonds to plastics, often resulting in substrate failure, which indicates that the adhesive bond is stronger than the material itself.

  • Lap Shear Strength (ASTM D1002):

    • LDPE: 350+ psi (Substrate Failure)

    • ABS: 950+ psi (Substrate Failure)

    • HDPE: 1100 psi (Substrate Failure)

    • PP: 1100 psi (Substrate Failure)

    • Polycarbonate: 850 psi (Adhesive Failure)

    • PVC: 2050 psi (Substrate Failure)

    • HIPS: 550 psi (Substrate Failure)

Handling and Storage

For optimal shelf life, store in original, unopened containers at or below 5°C (41°F). The product has a shelf life of six months from the date of shipment. Allow the adhesive to reach room temperature for 24 hours before use for best results.
