Devcon

Devcon epoxy has been a standard on maintenance benches and production lines for decades, and the range covers far more than general-purpose bonding. From fast-setting cartridges to metal-filled repair compounds, floor patching, and urethane systems, Devcon adhesives are built for industrial repair work where downtime is expensive.

Perigee Direct carries the full working range, including Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy, 1-Minute and 5-Minute Epoxy, 10-Minute Epoxy in clear and black, Epoxy Plus 25 toughened epoxy, Devcon Plastic Welder, Flexane urethanes, floor patch compounds, and the mixing nozzles and dispensers that go with them.

Whether you are bonding metal, sealing a leak, rebuilding a worn surface, or repairing a plastic housing, our team can help you match the right Devcon epoxy adhesive to the substrate, the working time you need, and the service conditions the repair has to survive.

BUYER'S GUIDE

How to Choose a Devcon Adhesive

Start with the substrate, then the working time, then the service conditions. Most Devcon adhesives are two-part systems supplied in 25ml syringes, 50ml cartridges, or 400ml cartridges, so once you know the chemistry, the packaging decision follows from your volume and dispensing setup.

Epoxies are the workhorse for metal, ceramic, wood, concrete, and most rigid plastics, and they deliver high shear strength with good chemical resistance. Methacrylate adhesives handle thermoplastics and low-surface-energy substrates that epoxy struggles to wet out. Urethanes stay flexible, which matters when the bonded parts move, flex, or absorb impact.

Working time is the second decision. Fast grades fixture in one to five minutes and suit small assemblies and field repairs. Longer-working grades give you time to position larger parts and generally develop higher ultimate strength, which is why production bonding usually favors them.

Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy Cure Time and Working Time

Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy is the general-purpose structural grade in the family and the one most shops keep in stock. It offers roughly 30 minutes of working time with handling strength in several hours. Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy cure time to full strength is approximately 24 hours at room temperature, and cooler conditions extend that. Its long open time makes it the right pick when parts need positioning, clamping, or alignment before the adhesive sets.

For quick repairs where nothing needs alignment, Devcon 1-Minute and 5-Minute Epoxy fixture fast enough to hold parts by hand. The 5-Minute Gel grade is thixotropic, so it stays where you put it on vertical surfaces instead of running.

Sizes, Dispensing, and Shelf Life

Syringes are convenient for occasional use and small repairs, but the plunger makes it easy to dispense off-ratio if one side moves ahead of the other. Cartridges with a static mixing nozzle and a matching dispenser give a consistent mix every time, which is why production and maintenance shops generally standardize on the 50ml cartridge and keep spare nozzles on the shelf.

Discard the first short bead from a new nozzle before bonding, since the leading material is rarely at the correct ratio. Store cartridges capped, at room temperature, and check date coding before use. Two-part epoxies that have been stored in a cold vehicle should be brought back to room temperature before dispensing, or the resin will be too viscous to mix properly.

Where Devcon Products Are Used

Typical applications include bonding and repairing pumps, housings, and machine guards, rebuilding worn shafts and keyways, sealing leaking tanks and pipe, patching damaged concrete floors in plants and warehouses, and repairing conveyor belts, rollers, and rubber pads with Flexane urethanes.

PRODUCT GROUPING INTROS

Devcon Epoxy Adhesives

The core Devcon epoxy range covers 1-Minute, 5-Minute, 10-Minute, and Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy grades in clear, black, and gray, plus the toughened Epoxy Plus 25 for joints that see impact, shear, and peel loads.

Devcon Plastic Welder

Devcon Plastic Welder is a toughened methacrylate (MMA) structural adhesive with high impact and peel resistance, used for bonding thermoplastics, composites, and metals where standard epoxy does not adhere well.

Devcon Flexane Urethanes

Flexane urethane compounds repair and rebuild rubber parts, belts, rollers, pads, and bumpers. Matching primers and accelerators are available to improve adhesion and shorten cure.

Devcon Floor Patch & Coatings

Floor patch compounds and protective coatings rebuild worn concrete, repair spalled surfaces, and protect equipment against wear, abrasion, and chemical attack in plants and warehouses.

Devcon Accessories

Mixing nozzles, dispensing guns, and cleaners keep two-part Devcon adhesives mixing at the correct ratio, including direct substitutes for the Devcon 14285 nozzle used on 50ml cartridges.

FAQS

What is Devcon epoxy used for?

Devcon epoxy is used for bonding, filling, and rebuilding in industrial maintenance and production. Typical applications include bonding metal and rigid plastic assemblies, sealing leaks, repairing worn surfaces, and structural bonding where welding or fasteners are impractical.

How long does Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy take to cure?

Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy cure time is roughly 30 minutes of working time, several hours to handling strength, and about 24 hours to full cure at room temperature. Lower temperatures slow the cure and higher temperatures speed it up.

What is the difference between Devcon 5-Minute and 2 Ton Epoxy?

5-Minute Epoxy fixtures quickly for fast repairs, while Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy has a longer open time and develops higher ultimate strength. Choose the faster grade for small hand-held repairs and 2 Ton when parts need positioning or maximum strength.

Can Devcon adhesives bond plastic?

Yes. Devcon Plastic Welder is a methacrylate adhesive formulated for thermoplastics and composites, and several Devcon epoxy adhesive grades bond rigid plastics well. Low-surface-energy plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene generally need a methacrylate or a surface treatment.

What size cartridges are Devcon adhesives available in?

Most Devcon adhesives come in 25ml syringes, 50ml cartridges, or 400ml cartridges, with larger pails for select grades. The 50ml cartridge is the most common industrial size and uses a standard 1:1 manual dispenser and mixing nozzle.
