Stop It® ADHESION PROMOTER 125 (AP125) is a specialized two-part, solvent-free primer system designed to solve the challenge of bonding to Low Surface Energy (LSE) plastics. By modifying the surface chemistry of difficult substrates, AP125 creates a high-strength interfacial bond, acting as a critical tie-coat for urethane-based adhesives and repair systems.

While engineered as the essential primer for the STOP IT® PIPE REPAIR SYSTEM, AP125 is an effective surface preparation agent for a wide range of urethane adhesive applications where standard bonding fails.

Target Substrates (LSE Plastics)

Standard adhesives struggle to grip some plastics due to low surface energy. AP125 provides the necessary adhesion pathway for:

  • HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene)
  • LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene)
  • Polypropylene (PP)
  • Various Polyolefins

Primary Use Cases

  • LSE Surface Priming: Prepares polyethylene and polypropylene surfaces for structural bonding.
  • Urethane Adhesive Bonding: Promotes strong adhesion between LSE plastics and urethane resins.
  • Critical Pipe Repair: Essential for sealing leaks on HDPE/PP piping using composite wraps.
  • Industrial Maintenance: Enables mechanical reinforcement and chemical resistance repairs on plastic substrates.

Key Benefits

  • Unlocks LSE Bonding: Achieves structural bond strengths on plastics that typically reject adhesives.
  • Urethane Compatible: Optimized for use with the Stop It® Pipe Repair System and other urethane resin technologies.
  • Fast Action: Short cure time (6–8 minutes working time) allows for rapid in-field repairs.
  • User-Friendly: Solvent-free formulation with a simple 1:1 mix ratio.
