Description
High-Strength Carbon Fiber Support You Can Cut Like Wood—Without the Weight of Steel
CarbonBar™ Versatile Flat Stock is the next generation of structural support for countertops, cabinetry, and architectural features. Engineered with aerospace-grade carbon fiber, this ultra-lightweight flat stock offers extreme strength, excellent span capacity, and full on-site workability—no special tools required. Whether you’re reinforcing an overhang, rodding stone, or stabilizing cabinetry, CarbonBar installs easily using standard carbide-tipped tools and bonds securely with CarbonBond or similar adhesives.
If you’re tired of dealing with bulky steel or limited aluminum brackets, CarbonBar is your long-lasting, corrosion-proof solution.

1. Heavy Countertop Overhangs and Islands
This is the most common use for the flat stock. When a kitchen design features a large granite, quartz, or quartzite overhang for a breakfast bar or island, the stone needs support to prevent it from snapping. Fabricators use the flat stock to create low-profile braces that provide immense strength without the bulky look of traditional steel corbels. Because it is so thin (0.2" to 0.4"), it remains virtually invisible under the counter.
2. Wall-Hung and Floating Cabinetry Reinforcement
Modern "floating" vanities and cabinets put a massive amount of stress on the wall studs and the cabinet back. Professional installers use the CarbonBar flat stock to reinforce the internal frame of the cabinetry or the wall itself. It provides the rigid support needed to keep the cabinet level and secure over time without adding the significant weight that steel plates would contribute.
3. Stone Rodding and Sink Cutout Strengthening
Fabricators use the narrower strips of flat stock (such as the 0.375" or 1" widths) for "rodding." They cut a shallow groove into the underside of a stone slab near fragile areas—like the narrow strips in front of a sink or cooktop—and bond the CarbonBar into the groove. This creates a "backbone" that prevents the stone from cracking during transport or installation. Unlike steel rods, CarbonBar will never rust or expand, which prevents "rod jacking" (internal stone cracking).
4. Custom Knee Wall and Pony Wall Supports
For countertops that sit on a half-wall (knee wall), installers often need a custom-length support to bridge the gap between the wall and the edge of the stone. Since this flat stock can be cut to any length on the job site with a standard skill saw, it is a favorite for installers who encounter non-standard wall dimensions where pre-made brackets won't fit.
5. Mobile, Marine, and RV Construction
Weight is a critical factor in boats, RVs, and mobile medical units. CarbonBar is used in these industries to provide structural rigidity for tables, counters, and shelving. It allows builders to achieve the strength of a heavy industrial build while keeping the overall vehicle weight low to improve fuel efficiency and stability.
6. Architectural and Commercial Feature Support
In commercial spaces, the flat stock is used to reinforce long spans of shelving, floating desks, and ADA-compliant workstations. Its resistance to corrosion and moisture makes it ideal for use in high-humidity environments like bathrooms, labs, or outdoor kitchens where steel would eventually rust and fail.
7. Sub-top Reinforcement for Thin Sintered Stone
With the rise of ultra-thin sintered stone (like Dekton or Neolith), traditional plywood sub-tops are often too flexible. CarbonBar flat stock can be bonded directly to the underside of these thin materials to provide a rigid, non-flexing base that prevents the large, thin panels from cracking when pressure is applied to the surface.
