The Trivantage Fabric Bonding Tapes work on a range of heat-sealable fabrics. Used to weld together fabric panels, the tape has been tested extensively to ensure strong, stitch-free seams. The polyurethane-based welding tape works with RF (Radio Frequency) bar, Hot Wedge, or Hot Air welding equipment.
Each roll is 100 yards long (300ft)
The fabric bond tape is available in standard, fire-retardant, black, and white styles. Offered exclusively through Trivantage®, the heat bond fabric tape is designed for use with vinyl, polyester, acrylic, and other compatible fabrics. They eliminate the need for sewing and color-matching thread. Use the fabric bonding tape for awning, marine, and industrial fabric projects.
The Flame Retardant reels should be used with fire-retardant fabrics only, like FIRESIST® & ECUS.

Product Name
Trivantage Fabric Bonding Tapes - Black, White, Flame Retardant, Variety of Sizes
Brief Description
Trivantage Fabric Bonding Tapes are polyurethane-based, heat-activated tapes designed to weld heat-sealable fabric panels together. They create strong, stitch-free, and often waterproof seams, eliminating the need for traditional sewing and thread color matching. These tapes require specialized equipment such as RF (Radio Frequency), Hot Wedge, or Hot Air welding tools for proper application.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Fusing seams in awnings, pergola canopies, shade sails, and patio covers.- Creating stitch-free seams for marine applications like sails, bimini tops, boat covers, and sprayhoods.- Used in various industrial fabric projects.- Upholstery fabric projects, including positioning decorative trims and stabilizing seams.- Reinforcement and repair of fabrics.- Fabrication of fabric signs, banners, and stage backdrops.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Marine- Tarp, Fabric, Awning Manufacturing- Upholstery- General Manufacturing (for textile and fabric fabrication)- Sign & Display- Special Effects/ Scenic Design- Plastic Fabrication (due to compatibility with vinyl and acrylic)- Transportation/ Specialty Vehicle (for applications like RV awnings)- Fabrication (general term for manufacturing with fabrics)
Special and Unique Features
- Eliminates the need for sewing and thread color matching, streamlining fabrication processes.- Creates strong, stitch-free, and often waterproof seams for enhanced durability and aesthetics.- Available in standard, fire-retardant, black, and white styles to suit diverse project requirements.- Polyurethane-based composition ensures reliable and lasting bonds.- Designed for use with professional heat-welding equipment (RF, Hot Wedge, or Hot Air welders) for industrial-grade results.
Key Properties
- Provides strong, long-lasting adhesion when heat-activated.- Offers durability and flexibility in bonded fabrics.- Available in various widths, such as 5/8-inch and 7/8-inch.- Fire-retardant options are available for specific safety requirements.- Specifically formulated for heat-sealable fabrics.
Surface Compatibility
- Vinyl- Polyester- Acrylic fabrics (e.g., Sunbrella®)- Other compatible heat-sealable fabrics.- Note: It is crucial to ensure the chosen fabric is heat compatible before bonding to prevent damage or warping.
Known backups / known substitutes
- Sewing: The traditional method for joining fabric panels.- Double-sided (Seamstick) tape: Used for temporary tacking prior to stitching or for semi-permanent bonds.- Fabric glues: Permanent fabric adhesives (e.g., Aleene's, Beacon Fabri-Tac, E6000) for lightweight fabrics, or washable glue sticks for temporary holds.- Iron-on interfacing/fusible web: Products like Stitch Witchery or Wonder Under, which are adhesive webs activated by an iron.- Other adhesive fabric tapes: General single-sided or double-sided adhesive tapes for various fabric applications.- Fast Fabric Adhesives: Liquid or cartridge-based adhesives, also offered by Trivantage, designed for strong bonds in awning fabrics.
Comparison Note
Trivantage Fabric Bonding Tapes provide a permanent, stitch-free, and often waterproof bond, setting them apart from many temporary tapes or glues. Their application requires specialized industrial heat-welding equipment, which differentiates them from simpler iron-on tapes or liquid fabric glues. These tapes are specifically engineered for demanding industrial and marine applications where high durability, clean aesthetics, and sealed seams are paramount, often offering superior performance compared to general-purpose fabric adhesives or temporary fastening methods.
