Shin-Etsu's KE1310ST silicone mold kit pairs a high-strength addition-cure silicone base with CAT1310 catalyst for demanding mold making and potting work. The kit ships with one 20 kg pail of translucent KE1310ST base and twenty 100 g bottles of CAT1310 catalyst, enough to run a full mix series without ordering catalyst separately. Cured rubber comes in at Shore A 40 with 380 percent elongation, low shrinkage, and clean release from detailed patterns.

Silicone Mold Kit Features

  • Two-component, addition-cure silicone mold kit
  • Includes 20 kg base pail and twenty 100 g catalyst bottles
  • 100:10 mix ratio by weight, base to CAT1310 catalyst
  • Shore A 40 hardness with 380 percent elongation
  • 5.9 MPa tensile strength and 23 kN/m tear strength
  • Translucent for easy visual inspection of the cured mold
  • About 2 hours working time at room temperature
  • Usable temperature range from -40 F to 347 F (-40 C to 175 C)

Popular Uses

People reach for this kit when a mold needs to hold fine detail through many casting cycles without going brittle. It is popular for molds that flex around undercuts while still giving a fabricator enough dimensional support to keep repeat pours consistent.

  • Production mold making for epoxy and urethane resin casting
  • Molds with undercuts or complex geometry that need flex on release
  • Prototype and pattern reproduction
  • Art and prop casting where detail retention matters
  • Selected potting work that calls for a firm, flexible silicone body

Silicone Mold Kit Mixing and Cure

Combine 100 parts KE1310ST base with 10 parts CAT1310 catalyst by weight. Mix thoroughly, scraping the sides and bottom of the container until the color and texture are uniform. Vacuum degassing is recommended when the mold geometry or surface finish calls for minimal trapped air. Pour steadily into a properly prepared mold box and allow about 24 hours at 23 C to cure.

Working time runs about 2 hours at room temperature. Addition-cure silicones can be inhibited by sulfur compounds, amines, tin-cured silicones, and other catalyst contaminants, so run a small compatibility test when the master, release agent, or tooling material is unfamiliar.

Physical Properties

Surface Compatibility

KE1310ST is poured against a master pattern rather than bonded as an adhesive. Common master and casting materials include:

  • Epoxy resin
  • Urethane resin
  • Wax
  • Clay
