Shin-Etsu KE-1604 is a two-component mold making silicone engineered for high-strength, high-hardness tooling and selected potting work. Paired with CAT-1604 catalyst at a 100:10 mix ratio by weight, this addition-cure system delivers a Shore A 60 rubber with 4.7 MPa tensile strength, 20 kN/m tear strength, and 300 percent elongation, specs that hold up through repeated demolding cycles. It ships in a 180 kilogram drum for shops running production volume.

Mix Ratio and Cure
Combine KE-1604 and CAT-1604 at a 100:10 ratio by weight. Weigh each component accurately and mix until the color and texture are uniform, scraping the sides and bottom of the container. The 1.5 hour working time gives room for mixing, vacuum degassing when needed, and controlled pouring. For faster turnaround, the accelerated cure schedule is 10 minutes at 100 degrees C, provided the master and any inserts can tolerate that temperature.

Application Notes
Secure the master and seal any path that could let liquid escape before pouring. Pour from a single location and let the material front advance around details so trapped air has a route out. Addition-cure silicones can be sensitive to contaminants, so run a small cure test against every master, release surface, pigment, and processing aid before a full batch.
