Shin-Etsu KE-1310ST is a translucent mold silicone, a two-component addition-cure material for strong, dimensionally stable molds and selected potting work. The base pairs with CAT-1310 catalyst at a 100:10 ratio by weight. Once cured, it offers high tensile and tear strength, low shrinkage, and easy release, which makes it a fit for molds that need to hold detail through repeated casting cycles.

Where This Translucent Mold Silicone Works

KE-1310ST suits complex molds used with epoxy and urethane casting resins. Its translucent body lets a fabricator see a master through the mold when planning split lines or checking fill around detailed geometry. A Shore A hardness near 40 combined with 380 percent elongation gives the mold enough body to hold shape while still flexing during demolding. Low shrinkage supports dimensional consistency when reproducing patterns, prototypes, decorative parts, tooling details, and production components.

  • Detailed mold making for epoxy and urethane casting resins
  • Prototype and pattern reproduction
  • Decorative part and tooling detail molds
  • Production component molds needing repeat-pour consistency
  • Selected potting projects that call for a firm, flexible silicone

Translucent Mold Silicone Mixing and Processing

Measure base and CAT-1310 by weight, then mix thoroughly while scraping the sides and bottom of the vessel. The uncured base runs at 75 Pa s (75,000 cP), so vacuum deaeration is recommended before pouring over the prepared master. Addition-cure silicones can be inhibited by certain contaminants on masters, tooling, or nearby materials, so run a small compatibility test when the surface history is unknown and confirm any release agent does not interfere with cure. Working time is about 2 hours at room temperature, with cure at approximately 24 hours at 23 C.
