Product Name
PLEXUS 21052 - PU2105 Adhesive 40 Gal
Brief Description
Plexus PU2105 is a high-strength, two-part structural polyurethane adhesive manufactured by ITW Performance Polymers. It is designed to form rigid and durable connections across a wide variety of substrates, including composites, thermoplastics, metals, wood, concrete, and cement. This adhesive offers excellent environmental resistance, gap-filling capabilities, and a convenient 1:1 mix ratio, curing at room temperature with low exotherm and no odor.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Panel bonding- Reinforcement bonding- Bracket and accessories bonding- Weld and rivet replacement in manufacturing and assembly processes- Structural bonding in marine applications, such as composite stringers, liners, and deck to hull bonding- Assembly of composite body panels in transportation vehicles (rail, bus, coach, truck, specialty vehicles)- Bonding components in wind energy systems, including wind blades and turbine housing assemblies- Metal sign assembly and general signage applications- General industrial bonding applications requiring high strength and durability- Bonding treated TPO, HDPE, and PP blends, often with a proprietary surface treatment
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Aerospace/Defense- Automotive Service/Repair- Cabinet & Woodworking- Construction/ Building Services- Energy (Wind, Solar)- Engineering Services- Fabrication (General, Metal, Plastic)- Flooring Installer or Manufacturer- Furniture- General Manufacturing- Government & Military- Marine- Metal Fabrication- Plastic Fabrication- PVC Trimboard- Sign & Display- Thermoforming- Transportation/ Specialty Vehicle
Special and Unique Features
- High-strength two-part structural polyurethane adhesive- Forms rigid connections- Excellent environmental resistance, including humidity and salt spray- Excellent gap filling and thixotropic (non-sagging gel) properties- Easy to use 1:1 mix ratio- Low exotherm and low shrink, minimizing temperature impact on bonded substrates- Low odor- Primerless adhesion to many metals and treated olefin plastics- Room-temperature cure, accelerating production- Distributes stress, resists fatigue, and eliminates point-loads and leak paths
Key Properties
- Adhesive Type: Two-part structural polyurethane- Mix Ratio (by volume): 1:1- Working Time: 3-5 minutes (typically 3-4 minutes)- Fixture Time: 40-50 minutes- Tensile Strength: 4,060 psi (28 MPa)- Lap Shear Strength (Al 6061): 1,450 psi (10 MPa)- T-peel Strength (Al 3003): 60 pli (10.5 N/mm)- Tensile Elongation: 5%- Viscosity (Adhesive Part A): 74,000 cP- Viscosity (Activator Part B): 68,000 cP- Supplied as a non-sagging gel
Surface Compatibility

Known backups / known substitutes
- Plexus H4110: Another ITW Performance Polymers adhesive, often mentioned alongside PU2105 for bonding polyolefin plastics with specific surface treatments.- Other Plexus Methacrylate Adhesives: While PU2105 is polyurethane, Plexus offers a wide range of methacrylate adhesives (e.g., MA series) that serve similar structural bonding purposes for various substrates, often as alternatives depending on specific application requirements and cost considerations.- Other high-performance structural epoxies or polyurethanes from different manufacturers may serve as substitutes, though Plexus is noted for its unique combination of strength and flexibility.
Comparison Note
Plexus PU2105 stands out as a high-performance structural adhesive that offers a unique balance of high strength, stiffness, and durability, coupled with excellent environmental resistance. Its ability to bond a wide array of similar and dissimilar substrates with minimal or no surface preparation, including challenging materials like treated polyolefin plastics, provides significant advantages in manufacturing and assembly. The 1:1 mix ratio, low exotherm, low odor, and room-temperature cure contribute to ease of use and increased production efficiency, often allowing it to replace traditional methods like welding and mechanical fasteners.
