The piston insertion tool for 600ml J-Series Sulzer MixPac cartridges makes installing & sealing the pistons easy and standardized, and is a crucial step after filling operations are complete.
Part Number: PIDQ_0600-01-01
Works with Atlas Professional 600ml 1:1 ratio 2-Part empty cartridges, and Sulzer's J-Series 600ml 1:1 ratio 2-Part empty cartridges.
How it works: Four easy steps.
Installing pistons with the insertion tool is super easy once you understand how the piston is built and how to use the insertion tool.
The Pistons are the next generation of piston technology, incorporating a diaphragm instead of a push-pin. The Insertion Tool opens the diaphragm up so air can release during installation.
- Notice that the insertion tool has a bump or button on the top side. This button is very important, and is used to both hold the piston in place AND push/keep the air release diaphragm open during insertion/installation.
- Place the piston atop the insertion tool, so that the gray diaphragm side is facing up atop the tool and the hard plastic spokes side is facing down onto the tool. Make sure that the Insertion tool's button or bump fits inside the center hole/cavity of the piston, so that it helps keep the piston on the tool.
- Using the insertion tool, press the piston inside the back end of the cartridge and gently press it in. The 'bump' or 'button' on the tool keeps the Piston's air release valve/diaphragm open so that air can escape as the piston is pushed in.
- Finally, when the piston hits the adhesive or material, you will feel a gentle resistance, and stop. The piston automatically seals as soon as you remove the insertion tool. The piston is now installed, sealed, and air has been evacuated.
This video illustrates a cross section of how the Piston Insertion tool holds open the Piston to allow the trapped-in air to release out of the cartridge while the pistons are pressed/pushed down during the installation step.
Product Name
Piston Insertion Tool for 600 1:1 ratio 2-Part cartridges - MixPac J-System
Brief Description
This specialized tool is designed for the efficient and standardized insertion and sealing of pistons into 600ml 1:1 ratio 2-part adhesive cartridges, specifically those compatible with the MixPac J-System, Sulzer J-Series, and Atlas Professional systems. It is a crucial step after filling operations to ensure proper sealing and air evacuation, preparing the cartridges for dispensing two-component materials like epoxies, acrylics, polyurethanes, and silicones.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Installing and sealing pistons in empty 2-part adhesive cartridges after filling.- Preparing cartridges for dispensing two-component adhesives and sealants.- Facilitating air release during piston installation for air-free sealing.- Packaging of materials for crack repair, waterproofing, roofing, and chemical anchoring.- Packaging of materials for structural bonding and general repair applications.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Construction/ Building Services- General Manufacturing- Chemical Industry (for packaging 2-part adhesives)- Aerospace/Defense- Energy (e.g., solar power installations, wind turbines)
Special and Unique Features
- Specifically designed for 600ml 1:1 ratio 2-part cartridges (MixPac J-System, Sulzer J-Series, Atlas Professional).- Features a "bump" or "button" that holds the piston and keeps its air release diaphragm open during insertion.- Ensures air is evacuated as the piston is pushed in, preventing air pockets.- Standardizes the piston installation process for consistency.- Facilitates a sealed and air-free cartridge once the tool is removed.- Efficient, repeatable, and cost-effective solution for installing air-free pistons.
Key Properties
- Designed for 600ml 1:1 ratio cartridges.- Compatible with MixPac J-System, Sulzer J-Series, and Atlas Professional cartridges.- Aids in the installation of pistons with a diaphragm design.- Ensures proper sealing and air evacuation.- Made for industrial-grade applications.
Surface Compatibility
- Compatible with plastic cartridge materials (e.g., PA (nylon) and PP (polypropylene) for J-System cartridges).- Designed for use with specific piston types, including those with a diaphragm for air release.
Known backups / known substitutes
- Manual piston insertion methods (less efficient, higher risk of air entrapment).- Automated or semi-automated piston insertion machines for larger scale operations (e.g., Atlas 2K Piston Inserter).- Piston insertion tools designed for other specific cartridge systems (e.g., C-Series cartridges), though not a direct substitute for J-System 600ml 1:1.
Comparison Note
This tool is specifically engineered for the MixPac J-System 600ml 1:1 ratio 2-part cartridges, offering a standardized and air-free piston insertion process that generic methods or tools for other cartridge types cannot replicate effectively. Its unique design, featuring a button to manage air release, distinguishes it from general-purpose tools and ensures optimal performance for the specified cartridge system.
