Applications
- Adhesion to a wide range of substrates (ferrites, metals, ceramics, plastics)
For pack sizes, please see Additional Information.
Surface Preparation
- Surfaces should be clean, dry and grease-free before the application.
- Permabond Cleaner A can be used for degreasing the majority of surfaces.
- If bonding to metals (aluminum, copper and alloys), you may need to abrade the surface with an emery cloth to remove the oxide layer.
Product Name
Permabond TA439 two-component Toughened Acrylic Adhesive
Brief Description
Permabond TA439 is a two-component structural acrylic adhesive engineered for high-strength bonding of various substrates, including metals, ferrites, ceramics, and certain plastics. It offers a rapid fixture time, making it highly suitable for high-speed production environments. This adhesive forms tough, durable bonds with excellent impact resistance. A key feature is its methacrylic acid-free formulation, which prevents corrosion on sensitive components, particularly in sealed electric motors.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Bonding of metals, ferrites, ceramics, and some plastics- Ideal for high-speed production lines- Magnet and ferrite bonding, especially in electric motors- Loudspeaker component assembly- Automotive exterior component bonding- Interior applications for buses, trains, and trams- Vehicle conversions and campervan manufacturing- Installation of lifts, stairlifts, stairs, and walkways- Sign bonding, point of sale displays, and shopfitting- Used in some aircraft parts applications (Permabond TA4246 is aerospace approved, but TA439 is mentioned in general application contexts)
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Aerospace/Defense- Automotive Service/Repair- Construction/Building Services- Electrical Services or Products- General Manufacturing- LED/Electronics- Metal Fabrication- Plastic Fabrication- Sign & Display- Transportation/ Specialty Vehicle
Special and Unique Features
- Two-component structural acrylic adhesive system- Achieves fast cure at room temperature- Typical fixture time ranges from 20-40 seconds- Features a no-mix application process, where an initiator is applied to one surface- Methacrylic acid-free formulation prevents corrosion on sensitive components, particularly in sealed electric motors- Delivers high strength, tough, and durable bonds- Exhibits good impact resistance and performs well in drop tests- Offers good chemical resistance- Non-corrosive formulation- Provides high shear and peel strength- Capable of withstanding higher temperatures for brief periods, such as during paint baking and wave soldering processes
