Product Name
Maven SuperGlue CA Solvent 100 - Dissolves Superglues, Instant Adhesives, Cyanoacrylate Adhesives
Brief Description
Maven SuperGlue CA Solvent 100 is a powerful, nitromethane-based solvent specifically formulated to effectively dissolve and remove cured cyanoacrylate (CA) adhesives, commonly known as superglues or instant adhesives. It is designed for industrial and professional use to clean up spills, remove excess glue, and debond accidentally bonded parts or skin.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Dissolving cured superglue bonds.- Removing excess cyanoacrylate adhesive.- Freeing accidentally bonded fingers or skin.- Cleaning up superglue spills and residues from various surfaces.- Debonding parts that were incorrectly assembled with CA glue.- Cleaning tools and dispensing systems used with CA adhesives.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- General Manufacturing- Cabinet & Woodworking- Metal Fabrication- Plastic Fabrication- Automotive Service/Repair- Construction/ Building Services- Artist, Artisan- Distributers & Resellers- Industrial Supply- LED/Electronics- Marine- Furniture- Sign & Display
Special and Unique Features
- Nitromethane-based formula, offering faster dissolution of CA glue compared to acetone.- Less likely to damage many surfaces compared to acetone.- Effective on cured superglue bonds and residues.- Can be used to free bonded skin.- Available in spray bottles for easy application.
Key Properties
- Chemical Base: Nitromethane- Appearance: Clear to light yellow liquid- Boiling Point: 114°C (237°F)- Flashpoint: 100°C (212°F)- Vapor Density: 2.1 (Air = 1)- Specific Gravity: 1.14- Low viscosity
Surface Compatibility
- **Recommended for use on:** All Metals, Stone, Wood, Brick, Ceramics, Tiles, PVC, Polycarbonates, ABS.- **Not recommended for use on:** Acrylic plastics.- **Caution advised for:** Certain other plastics, coatings, and fabrics; always test on an inconspicuous area before use.
Known backups / known substitutes
- Acetone (common in nail polish remover, hardware stores)- MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone)- Nitromethane (as a component or pure, if available)- Dimethylformamide (DMF)- Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO)- Methylene Chloride- Gamma-butyrolactone- Propylene Carbonate (often found in commercial debonders)- Warm soapy water (for skin and some surfaces, especially if glue is fresh)- Oils (vegetable oil, olive oil, petroleum jelly) for skin and some plastics.- Vinegar (for some surfaces, works slower)- Specialized commercial debonders (e.g., Starbond Debonder, Permabond CA Solvent 100, Cyberbond 9066, Remove Debonder, Solvent D Debonder).
Comparison Note
Maven SuperGlue CA Solvent 100, being nitromethane-based, generally offers a faster and potentially safer removal process for cyanoacrylate adhesives compared to common alternatives like acetone, which can be slower and more aggressive on certain materials. While acetone is widely available, this specialized solvent is formulated for industrial effectiveness and broader material compatibility (excluding acrylics), making it a preferred choice for professional applications where precision and material integrity are crucial.
