Maven MMA 530 is a two-part methacrylate adhesive suitable for structural bonding of various metals, thermoplastics and composites. It has a unique combination of excellent fatigue endurance, shock resistance, toughness, chemical and environmental resistance that makes it ideal for marine and composite assemblies where longer set time is helpful.
MMA 530 is a backup formula for the Plexus MA530.
Its environmental and chemical resistance also works well in marine and humid environments. This product is often used for larger assemblies and for bigger gaps, where a longer set-time is important. This 1:1-ratio formula has an open time of 35 minutes and handling strength can be achieved in 90 to 120 minutes. It gives excellent bond strength along with good toughness and high impact strength. Highly recommended in marine industries and other composite assemblies.
Please Note: These cartridges are designed to work best with a 50ml or 400ml cartridge Dispenser, respectively. We advise you use a 50ml or 400ml Dispenser for all respective cartridges. If you do not have one, please check out our Dispensers, all are excellent products and have our 'it's good' seal of approval.
If you prefer not to use a Dispenser, we have some 50ml kits that include hand tools or caulking dispenser adapters, as pictured, that you can use for small jobs. But the 400ml cartridges really need to use a 400ml Dispenser, they're just too big to effectively use without the dispenser.

Directions of applications
Wipe off and degrease the surface to be bonded. Use eye protection and gloves to avoid skin contact. Dispense a desirable amount of adhesive using a dispensing dispenser. The nozzle sizes can be selected according to the desired bond thickness. Join the substrates with the specified work-life of this material and allow it to cure at room temperature. Do not disturb the parts during the curing process. Excess adhesive can be wiped off. (For optimum strength, surface preparation for the metals like sandblast, etching is suggested).
Safety and handling
Wear eye protection and gloves. Harmful if swallowed. Keep it away from heat, flames. Keep out of reach of children. Once used keep the containers closed.
Storage and shelf life
Store this product in a tightly closed container in a cool and well-ventilated area. Product should not be frozen. Keep it away from any source of heat. Store the material in between 51℉ to 75℉. Continuous exposure above 75℃ will reduce the shelf life.
Product Name
Maven MMA 530 - Medium Set 35 minutes MMA Marine-Optimized Adhesive - Thick/High Viscosity Gray 1:1 ratio
Brief Description
Maven MMA 530 is a two-part, medium-set methyl methacrylate (MMA) structural adhesive, specifically optimized for marine and composite assemblies. It offers a 35-minute open time, high viscosity, and a 1:1 mix ratio, curing at room temperature to form strong, durable bonds.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Structural bonding in marine environments, including hulls, deck liners, ski boats, yachts, canoes, and kayaks.- Bonding various metals, thermoplastics, and composites.- Assemblies requiring a longer set time for larger components or bigger gaps.- Replacing mechanical fasteners and welding in demanding applications.- Bonding fiberglass, plastics, and other materials in harsh environmental conditions.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Marine- General Manufacturing- Fabrication- Metal Fabrication- Plastic Fabrication- Transportation/ Specialty Vehicle- Construction/ Building Services- Aerospace/Defense
Special and Unique Features
- Marine-optimized for excellent resistance to water and saltwater.- Medium set time of 35 minutes, providing ample working time for larger assemblies.- Thick/high viscosity, suitable for gap filling from 0.75mm to 15mm.- Gray color.- 1:1 mix ratio for easy application.- Excellent resistance to most chemicals, including hydrocarbons, gasolines, and oils.- Minimal surface preparation required.- Cures at room temperature.
Key Properties
- High bond strength, toughness, and flexibility.- Excellent impact and fatigue resistance.- Good environmental resistance, including temperature fluctuations (-40°F to 250°F) and UV exposure.- Fast strength development.- Low shrinkage.- Ability to bond dissimilar materials.
Surface Compatibility
- Metals: Steel, stainless steel, aluminum.- Plastics: ABS, acrylics, PVC, thermoplastics.- Composites: Fiberglass (FRP), carbon fiber, gelcoats, polyesters, vinyl ester, sheet molding compound.- Wood
Known backups / known substitutes
- Plexus MA530 (Maven MMA 530 is a backup formula for Plexus MA530).- Other MMA adhesives (e.g., Scigrip, Infinity Bond MMA series).- Epoxy adhesives (though with different properties and application considerations).- Polyurethane adhesives (with different properties and application considerations).
Comparison Note
MMA adhesives like Maven MMA 530 generally offer faster cure times, better impact and fatigue resistance, and more forgiving surface preparation compared to many epoxies. They are also less brittle than epoxies and can bond dissimilar materials effectively, accommodating differential thermal expansion. While epoxies might offer higher tensile strength and chemical/heat resistance in some formulations, MMAs excel in applications requiring flexibility, toughness, and rapid processing, especially in marine environments.
