Loctite MR 2000 Extreme Temperature Repair Putty,
Turn up the heat without losing your bond. Loctite MR 2000 is a revolutionary, single-part repair putty engineered to withstand extreme temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C)—environments where standard epoxies simply burn away. Ideal for repairing exhaust manifolds, headers, and furnaces, this water-based formula is safe, easy to apply, and cures into a rock-hard, ceramic-like finish that can be drilled, machined, and painted, getting your high-heat equipment back in action fast.
Loctite MR 2000 is **NOT an epoxy**. It behaves more like a ceramic clay or cement. It is more brittle compared to epoxy and has lower shear strength (675 psi vs 3000+ psi for epoxy), so it should not be used for structural bonds that bear weight. However, for filling a crack in a glowing red-hot exhaust manifold, no epoxy in the world will survive—but MR 2000 will.

Product Name: Loctite MR 2000 Extreme Temperature Repair Putty (2000°F Metal Repair)
Loctite MR 2000 is a unique, single-component, water-based repair putty designed for high-temperature environments where standard epoxies would fail. It withstands temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C), making it a critical repair material for exhaust systems, furnaces, and engine components. Unlike epoxies, this is a "ceramic-like" putty that cures by water evaporation and heat, eventually forming a bond that is chemically resistant and machineable.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Repairing cracks and voids in cast iron and steel parts that operate at high heat.
- Sealing exhaust manifolds, headers, and catalytic converters.
- Patching furnace liners, boilers, and fire bricks.
- Filling defects in castings before powder coating (since it can withstand the oven cure).
- Emergency repairs on steam lines or high-heat ductwork.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Automotive (Exhaust and engine repair)
- Power Generation (Steam pipes, boilers)
- Metal Casting and Foundry
- HVAC (Furnace repair)
- Industrial Maintenance
Special and Unique Features
- Extreme Temperature Resistance: Survives up to 2000°F (1093°C), far beyond the 500°F limit of high-temp epoxies.
- Water-Based: Safer to use, easy cleanup with water before it cures.
- No Mixing: Single-component putty, ready to use out of the can.
- Machinable: Can be drilled, sanded, and machined once fully cured.
- Environmentally Safe: Contains no solvents or volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Known backups / known substitutes for this product
- Aremco Pyro-Putty 2400 (Similar high-temp ceramic metallic putty).
- J-B Weld ExtremeHeat (Consumer grade equivalent).
- ThermoSteel (Another common exhaust repair putty).
- Lab-metal (Standard or Hi-Temp versions).
Comparison Note
- Loctite MR 2000 is **NOT an epoxy**. It behaves more like a ceramic clay or cement. It is brittle compared to epoxy and has lower shear strength (675 psi vs 3000+ psi for epoxy), so it should not be used for structural bonds that bear weight. However, for filling a crack in a glowing red-hot exhaust manifold, no epoxy in the world will survive—but MR 2000 will.
