LOCTITE® 263™ is a red, high-strength, primerless anaerobic threadlocker for permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. It cures when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces, helping prevent loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. Its oil-tolerant formula provides robust cure on active metals and passive substrates, making it well suited to demanding industrial maintenance and assembly work.

Primary Features & Benefits:

  • High-strength permanent threadlocking and sealing
  • Primerless performance on active and passive metals
  • Tolerates minor contamination from cutting, lubrication, anti-corrosion, and protection oils
  • Helps prevent loosening and leakage caused by shock and vibration
  • One-component, low-viscosity liquid; no mixing required
  • Fluoresces under UV light for inspection
  • High-temperature performance; requires localized heat for disassembly

Typical Applications:

  • Studs installed into motor housings
  • Nuts assembled onto studs in pump housings
  • Heavy-duty threaded fasteners where high strength is required
  • Industrial machinery, electric motors, fluid-power equipment, and maintenance assemblies

Compatible Materials:

  • Steel, brass, and copper
  • Stainless steel, aluminum, plated metals, and other passive metal substrates
  • Not normally recommended for plastics, especially thermoplastics; confirm compatibility before use

Technical Properties:

  • Technology: Acrylic
  • Chemical type: Dimethacrylate ester
  • Cure: Anaerobic; activator may be used as a secondary cure aid
  • Color / appearance: Red liquid
  • Specific gravity at 23°C: 1.1
  • Brookfield viscosity at 25°C: 500 mPa·s (cP)
  • Cone-and-plate viscosity at 25°C: 450 mPa·s (cP)
  • Typical fixture time: 10 minutes
  • Breakaway torque on M10 steel nuts and bolts after 24 hours at 23°C: 33 N·m (290 lb·in)
  • Prevail torque at 180° on M10 steel nuts and bolts after 24 hours at 23°C: 33 N·m (290 lb·in)
  • Compressive shear strength on steel pins and collars: at least 9.0 N/mm² (1,305 psi)
  • Application temperature range: -55°C to 180°C (-65°F to 360°F)
  • Tested for cold strength to -75°C (-100°F)

Package:

  • Henkel IDH / Manufacturer Part Number: 1330335
  • Item package quantity: 1 bottle

Directions:

  1. For best results, clean internal and external threads with a suitable LOCTITE® cleaning solvent and allow them to dry.
  2. If cure speed is too slow or gaps are large, apply an appropriate activator and allow it to dry as directed.
  3. Shake thoroughly before use. Avoid touching the nozzle tip to metal.
  4. For through holes, apply several drops to the bolt at the nut engagement area. For blind holes, apply several drops to the lower third of the internal threads or bottom of the hole.
  5. Assemble and tighten as required.
  6. For disassembly, heat the nut or bolt locally to approximately 250°C and disassemble while hot.

Storage:

  • Store unopened in a dry location.
  • Optimal storage temperature: 8°C to 21°C (46°F to 70°F).
  • Storage below 8°C or above 28°C can adversely affect product properties.

Certification / Agency Approval:

  • NSF/ANSI 61
