Known backups / known substitutes
While the 04006 is a specific regular-setting thin epoxy, other Hardman Double Bubble epoxies exist with varying properties for different needs, such as:
- Hardman Double Bubble Extra Fast Setting (e.g., Red Package 04001, Silver Package 04009) for quicker repairs.
- Hardman Double Bubble Non-Sag Epoxy (e.g., 04008) for vertical or overhead applications.
- Hardman Double Bubble Wet Surface / Patching Epoxy for damp or underwater environments.
General epoxy adhesives from brands like JB Weld or Devcon could also be considered as broader substitutes depending on the specific application requirements.
Comparison Note
The Hardman Double Bubble Black Regular Setting (45 min) Thin Epoxy (04006) stands out due to its low viscosity, making it ideal for applications requiring fine glue lines or material saturation. Its 45-minute working time offers a good balance between quick setting and sufficient time for precise assembly, differentiating it from faster-setting epoxies. The unique Double Bubble packaging provides convenience and consistent mixing, which is a significant advantage over traditional syringe or bulk epoxy systems, especially for small, on-the-spot repairs.
