- Type Epoxy Infusion Resin
- Vendor Sika
- SKU SIKABIRESIN_CR86_45LB
SikaBiresin CR86 is a high-clarity epoxy infusion resin developed for composite structures, tools, and marine parts. The low-viscosity resin moves through reinforcement and distribution media during vacuum-assisted processing, and its clear to light-amber mixed appearance makes flow and wet-out easier to watch during setup. Three CH86 hardeners give fabricators fast, medium, and slow working-time options while keeping the mixed resin fluid.
Epoxy Infusion Resin Features
- High-clarity, low-viscosity infusion formulation
- Supports resin infusion, RTM, vacuum bagging, and wet layup
- Three hardener speeds: CH86-2 fast, CH86-3 medium, CH86-6 slow
- Fast combination mix ratio: 100 resin to 27 hardener by weight
- Clear resin with light-amber mixed appearance for visible wet-out
- Room-temperature cure with post-cure option
Popular Uses
- Composite tooling and mold fabrication
- Marine hull and structural infusion work
- Transportation composite parts
- Closed-mold transfer and hand-placement processes
- Industrial composite component production
Epoxy Infusion Resin Physical Properties
- Fast combination mix ratio: 100 parts resin to 27 parts hardener by weight
- Fast combination mixed viscosity: approximately 266 cps at 25 degrees C
- Fast combination gel time: 25 to 35 minutes for a 150-gram mass at 77 degrees F
- Appearance: clear resin, light-amber when mixed
Mix Ratio & Cure
Confirm dry reinforcement, a sealed tooling setup, and calibrated weighing before mixing. Combine CR86 resin with the selected CH86 hardener at the specified ratio, mix thoroughly, and verify a vacuum test before resin enters the part. Match hardener speed to expected fill time and part mass, since a cure that runs too fast can interrupt flow.
Precautions
FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY. Refer to the SDS prior to use.

Product Name
SikaBiresin CR86 Epoxy Infusion System
Brief Description
SikaBiresin CR86 is a high-clarity, low-viscosity epoxy infusion system for composite structures, tools, and marine parts. It pairs with three CH86 hardeners for different working times while keeping a fluid mixed consistency, supporting resin infusion, RTM, vacuum bagging, and wet layup.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Resin infusion and vacuum-assisted processing
- Resin transfer molding (RTM)
- Composite tooling and mold fabrication
- Marine hull and structural infusion work
- Transportation composite parts
- Closed-mold transfer and hand-placement laminating
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Marine: used for hull and structural infusion on boats and marine composite parts.
- Mold Making/ Casting: the high-clarity resin makes flow and wet-out easy to observe during tooling and mold fabrication.
- Aerospace/Defense: fits composite tooling and part infusion where clean, void-free laminates matter.
- Transportation/ Specialty Vehicle: used to infuse composite transportation components.
- General Manufacturing: a standard epoxy infusion resin for composite parts shops.
Special and Unique Features
- Three hardener speeds: CH86-2 fast, CH86-3 medium, and CH86-6 slow support a range of infusion fill times.
- High clarity: clear resin with a light-amber mixed appearance makes flow and wet-out easy to watch during setup.
- Low mixed viscosity: approximately 266 cps for the fast combination, supporting efficient flow through reinforcement.
Key Properties
- Mix ratio (fast combination): 100 parts resin to 27 parts hardener by weight.
- Mixed viscosity (fast combination): approximately 266 cps at 25 degrees C.
- Gel time (fast combination): 25 to 35 minutes for a 150-gram mass at 77 degrees F.
- Appearance: clear resin, light-amber when mixed.
Surface Compatibility
SikaBiresin CR86 bonds to common reinforcement and tooling substrates used in infusion work:
- Fiberglass reinforcement
- Carbon fiber reinforcement
- Glass reinforced plastic (GRP)
- Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP)
- Composite tooling substrates

Comparison Note
SikaBiresin CR86 sits alongside SikaBiresin CR94 and CR72 in Perigee's composite laminating line. CR86 is purpose-built for infusion and RTM with a high-clarity resin, CR94 favors standard wet layup and vacuum bagging, and CR72 adds a UV-resistant formulation for parts that see sun exposure.
