Product Name
SynthoGlass PPR-290 two-part epoxy Primer (aka PPR-290-2QT or PPR-290-2GL)
Brief Description
The SynthoGlass PPR-290 is a solvent-free, chemically resistant, two-part bulk epoxy primer. It is designed to be applied atop filler compounds and underneath repair wraps or tapes to enhance the bond strength between the pipe and the repair system. This primer is a crucial component within non-metallic composite repair systems, contributing to their overall success and effectiveness.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Optimizes bond strength with pipes and repair wraps.- Used on any metal surface or surfaces with epoxy fillers.- Applied in conjunction with patches, plugs, and other leak repair techniques.- Facilitates the transition of aggressive changes in geometry or large defects before installing Engineered Composite Repair (ECR) Systems.- Acts as a bonding agent and promoter between the pipe and composite materials.- Provides load transfer between the pipe and the composite.- Serves as an effective corrosion prevention barrier.- Offers initial protection against internal chemicals that may come into contact with the repair system.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Petroleum Industry, Products or Services (e.g., petroleum refineries)- Energy (for pipeline and infrastructure maintenance)- Construction/ Building Services (for pipe repair and structural integrity)- Marine (for marine piping systems)- General Manufacturing (for industrial equipment maintenance and repair)- Chemical Industry (due to its chemical resistance in various environments)- Engineering Services (involved in designing and implementing composite repair solutions)- Distributers & Resellers (companies like Perigee Direct that supply these products)
Special and Unique Features
- Solvent-free formulation.- High-build capability, preventing slumping or sagging during application.- Can be over-coated as soon as it is dry to the touch.- Resistant to a wide array of inorganic acids, alkalis, salts, and organic media.- Machinable once fully cured.- Environmentally safe with no VOCs when mixed.- Delivers simple, effective, and durable repair/restoration.
