- Sci-Grip SG400 LSE Polyolefin bonder
Product Features
-
Direct Substitute: MV4605 is engineered to be a backup formula for Permabond TA4600 series (TA4605 and TA4610), offering comparable performance and application.
-
Versatile Bonding: It effectively bonds a wide range of plastics, including difficult-to-bond low surface energy plastics.
-
Fast & Efficient: With a 1:1 mix ratio, it has a working time of 2 to 5 minutes and achieves handling strength in 3 hours at room temperature.
-
Durability: The cured adhesive offers excellent resistance to common chemicals, including gasoline, toluene, and pump oil.
Technical Data
-
Color: Straw
-
Working Time: 2–5 minutes (at 75°F / 24°C)
-
Fixture Time: 8 hours (at 75°F / 24°C)
-
Hardness: 58-65 Shore D
-
Viscosity: Resin: 15,000–20,000 cps; Activator: 30,000–40,000 cps
Plastic Bonding Performance
The adhesive provides strong bonds to plastics, often resulting in substrate failure, which indicates that the adhesive bond is stronger than the material itself.
-
Lap Shear Strength (ASTM D1002):
-
LDPE: 350+ psi (Substrate Failure)
-
ABS: 950+ psi (Substrate Failure)
-
HDPE: 1100 psi (Substrate Failure)
-
PP: 1100 psi (Substrate Failure)
-
Polycarbonate: 850 psi (Adhesive Failure)
-
PVC: 2050 psi (Substrate Failure)
-
HIPS: 550 psi (Substrate Failure)
-
Handling and Storage
For optimal shelf life, store in original, unopened containers at or below 5°C (41°F). The product has a shelf life of six months from the date of shipment. Allow the adhesive to reach room temperature for 24 hours before use for best results.
Product Name
- Maven MMA4605 1:1 ratio Polyolefin Bonder (Bonds Polyethylene, Polypropylene& Nylon) High Strength MMA Adhesive
Brief Description
- The Maven MMA4605 is a two-part, high-strength Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) structural adhesive specifically engineered for primerless bonding of difficult-to-adhere low surface energy plastics such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and nylon. It offers rapid cure and durable bonds, often resulting in substrate failure rather than adhesive failure.
Popular Applications & Uses
- Bonding low surface energy plastics including polyethylene (PE, HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE), polypropylene (PP, PPCO, PPHO), and nylon without the need for special surface preparation.- Structural bonding of advanced materials in various industrial sectors.- Attaching panels, brackets, and performing metal bonding in automotive and transport applications.- Bonding fiberglass and composite materials, particularly in the marine industry.- Joining aluminum, steel, or powder-coated parts in metal fabrication.- Assembly of signage and displays, including bonding acrylic panels, frames, and metal supports.- Replacing traditional fastening methods like welding or riveting in certain manufacturing processes.- Effectively bonding dissimilar materials such as metal to plastic or composites.
Industries that Commonly Use It
- Aerospace/Defense- Automotive Service/Repair- Chemical Industry- Construction/ Building Services- Fabrication- General Manufacturing- Marine- Medical Device/ Prosthetics- Metal Fabrication- Plastic Fabrication- Sign & Display- Transportation/ Specialty Vehicle
Special and Unique Features
- Optimized for bonding notoriously hard-to-bond, low surface energy plastics (Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Nylon) without requiring special surface preparation.- Delivers high-strength, durable bonds with excellent resistance to shear, peel, and impact stresses.- Features a rapid cure time at room temperature, allowing for faster assembly processes.- Tolerant of less-than-ideal surface conditions, such as slight oil contamination.- Capable of effectively bonding a wide range of dissimilar materials.- Provides good environmental resistance, including tolerance to temperature fluctuations, vibration, and various chemicals.- Exhibits low shrinkage upon curing, ensuring precise bonding and dimensional stability.- Engineered as a direct substitute or backup formulation for popular polyolefin bonders like Permabond TA4600 series, 3M DP8005, and Sci-Grip SG400 LSE.

Comparison Note
- Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) adhesives, like Maven MMA4605, generally offer superior peel strength, better temperature resistance, and significantly faster strength development compared to traditional epoxies and polyurethanes. They are also known for requiring minimal surface preparation and their ability to create strong bonds between dissimilar materials. While some MMA adhesives may have a strong odor and are flammable, their performance benefits often make them a preferred choice for demanding structural bonding applications.
